I think the design is an improvement on the base Sebenza...and that says a lot given the Sebenza could be argued as the best production folding knife ever made. Especially for harder usage, the grip is simply better. When wet, this is amplified even more so. Despite the look, CRK finished it in a fashion in which it is still comfortable with bare-handled usage.
So you get the performance and compactness of a Sebenza, with grip/retention comparable to a knife with a thicker inlay without having the thick part or needing to increase the number of materials, in grade 5 titanium alloy which is one of the strongest and best materials for this sort of usage. As great a G5 ti is, it is still a nightmare to machine compared to many other materials, and so you don't see many knives at this price with this sort of machine work with tolerances and a fit and finish so damned consistent and flawless. Custom makers sometimes offer machined patterns as such, but generally not at this price.
It's a winning knife. In many ways, the design has properties with the same basis of some of the Lionsteel folders (also exceptional knives) in that it takes strong titanium and uses patterning to keep a compact design but add more traction to the grip. A lot of Seb owners who have carried a standard Seb for a decade-plus are moving to the WC Starbenza as CRK/WC executed this design so well.
If the design were to be summarized in one word, I would personally use the word, "phenomenal."
