I recently purchased a Style 248 Large Travel Bag and am blown away by the quality. I'm sure my great grandchildren will be using it.
Just missed a Double Mackinaw Wool Cruiser coat on eBay.
I also own a duckbill cap which is a killer cool look and very waterproof.
Anyway, I'm slightly obsessed by all things Filson and plan to buy more in the future as I can afford them.
Just wondering what Filson items you all own and if you have any comments on them.
Thanks,
Lenny

I love all my filson stuff and I think it will outlast me. ;)

Style #621 - Klondike Jacket, Oil Finish, Lined
I love this thing. I have never felt rain through it, built like Fort Knox. Excellent product.

Style #152 - Moleskin Jacket/Liner
I use this both as a stand alone, or as an underlayer under my Klondike. It is very soft, durable, and warm. Its got elastic fittings that would allow you to zip it into an outfitter coat, but still works great under any others.

Style #1431 - Foul Weather Rain Pants
I have only used these a few times, but they did not let me down. Kept my legs dry, and warm. Of note, there is a lot of fabric near the boot / lower leg, so if you are going to use gaitors as well, get a size larger before you get out in the back country. (I learned that the hard way)

Style #232 - Medium Rugged Twill Field Bag
I got this as a presant from my parents a couple years ago. It is a great bag, I have used it every day since. The only thing I would change is to add snaps to one or both of the tiny side pockets to keep little stuff more secure.

Style #850 - Alaskan Guide Shirt
This thing is almost like a wool coat. (even though it's cotton) It's a great heavy shirt. It is almost too warm for me, I always sweat when I wear this thing. :)

I've also got a few of their baseball hats that I wear around town or at work. I love the way they feel (especially the moleskin) and they are pretty good looking too.

Anyhow, if you hadn't guessed, I am also a Filson addict and plan on continuing my affair with them. =) They make great gear, and I love just wandering around thier store.

-Gray double Mackinaw (really love this)
-Forest green Mackinaw wool field pants (most recent purchase - have only worn once so far, but extremely warm and plan to use hunting this year)
-Tin cloth baseball cap
-Tin cloth packer hat (really like this)
-Fly fishing guide vest (thought I'd use this hiking in lieu of a pack, but haven't really yet - thinking about taking up fly fishing at some point though) Plenty of pockets and very well constructed

What I want next:
-Their heaviest wool sweater

2 wool packer hats (grey and navy),
Oil finish tincloth packer hat

Luckily there is a store in town that carries them so I can try stuff on. Maybe someday I'll get a shelter cloth coat or a sweater. The problem is for me the length is a little short on the coats so I'd have to special order.

Double Mackinaw Cruiser (Green)
Degular Mackinaw Cruiser (Green)
Whipcord Cruiser (Discontinued. Green. $25 junk shop find  )
Tin Pants
Tin Shorts (Way too thick and stiff for hot weather. The only filson garment I would not buy again.
Wildfowl hat.

I think that's it. I want some whipcord pants.

verax,
You're so lucky to live in Seattle and actually walk into the Filson store.
If I lived there, I'd be much poorer.

It's hard to resist. It's about 4 blocks down from Safeco field and Seahawks stadium. So whenever I am going down for a Mariners / Seahawks / Sounders game, I feel obligated to swing on by. Man, it is hard to resist sometimes. :grumpy:

Double tin cloth pants. They feel like they would stop a .22---and I know they'll stop thorns and spines! The main drawback is that they don't breathe well. The only breathing action is from air circulation up the baggy legs.

I have a pair of Filson tin chaps and a tin baseball hat. The stitching at the bottom of my chaps is starting to come out after 3 years of grouse hunting. The hat is nice but it doesn't breath at all and can get very hot if it's a warm day. Good stuff but I going to look for a different brand of chaps for grouse hunting.

I only own a couple of the bridle leather belts. Very happy with them.

Shelter Cloth Packer Coat- Heavy duty, and I mean Heavy!
Med. Field Bag- How did I ever do without one?
Large Travel Bag- As stated above, my grandkids should get good use from it.

Next- I need the Foul Weather Rain Pants before this coming Fall, and am looking for a retail store in the Bay Area that stocks their boot line to give them a try. One of the double thick belts would be nice, and a tin shelter cloth cap to complete the ensable.

Their boots look extremely well made, and expensive.
No Gore-Tex though. I guess they can be pretty water proof even without it.
However, there are so many other good boots out there it's the only thing they make that really doesn't offer anything above and beyond other mfrs products.
If I'm wrong, tell me.

I concur Lenny. I settled on Danner for my boots. I figured that Filson is a garment company, Danner is a boot company, I'll buy each from the experts. ;)

I have either the #244 or #246 rugged twill travel bag. I got it used for $30, it looks like it had been carried maybe three times. So far, I don't see any way that I could tear it up or wear it out.

I've got a pair of Filson briar pants. I've had them three years and they will go through hell-and-back. Expensive though, and the stitching on the bottom was bad.

I'm pretty much the filson poster child. My wife kids me that I have everything in the catalogue... well not EVERYTHING, but pretty much a representation of each of everything. I have a double mac, two wool vests, a tin-cloth vest, an alaskan guide shirt, two safari cloth shirts (the absolute best!), a feather cloth shirt, a lighter weight wool sweater, and just about every hat, a pair of boots, a pair of shoes, a double thickness belt, a briefcase, an outfitters bag, a shell bag, an shelter cloth coat, and a day planner. Let's see, did I forget anything?;)
As you can tell, I love all things filson. They are built to last. May as well have the best.
