im looking for a small fixed blade...about the size of a pocket knife....will use for skinning and gutting squirrels..a pocket knife works great, but cleanup isn't the easiest on a pocket knife

any suggestions?

The first question would be, how much is your budget?

Bark River has a bunch of small models that would work. One other that gets a good bit of attention and is inexpensive is AG Russell's Woodswalker with the pocket sheath.

I just picked up a LT Wright Patriot and a KSF pocket sheath , the Patriot is a great fit for the sheath and it all fits into my pocket nicely.

budget..i would say the cheaper the better..but lets say 20-55 bucks..if that's possible...all recommendations are possible..i may spend more money if I fall in love with something

A Mora 2/0. The blade is a smidgen under 3". Also any number of paring knives; Opinel, Victorinox, and etc..

My favorite pocket fixed blade: By Dan Cowles with bark mastadon ivory scales and engraving by Chris Maloof.

The one I carry the most: by W D Pease

Boker-Tom Krein "Pocket Bowie" Very neat, affordable and pocketable fixed blade.--KV

I also like the AGR Woodswalker: small blade but plenty of handle. He also has a hunter's scalpel which is quite tiny, and a bird and trout that is very thin.

Here are a couple of photos of my Patriot for you.

You might also want to check out Buck Pack Lite series, they are within your budget and the smaller ones should be the size you are looking for, the sheath they come with might be a bit bulky though.

I carry the CRKT Folts Minimalist shown below when I'm in the woods for small game. It has a nice belly, small, won't slip if you get a little blood on your hands and it can be found for around $30.

The A G Russell Woodswalker is an excellent value in a pocket sized fixed blade. The Bark River Little Creek and Mini Canadian are also among my favorite small fixed blades.

Here are some others including AG's Woodswalker. From Left to Right - A G Russell Woodswalker, Fallkniven WM1 3G, ESEE Izula, Bark River Bravo Necker 3V, Scrapyard Scrapivore, Bark River North Star EDC.

Take a look at the Roselli "grandmother" or "bear claw". Also Lapin Puukko's "Natti's Nail" or Wood Jewel's "Little Knife"; Brusletto's "Rypa". All fine knives, well made, good steel, etc.
