What fixed blade should I buy and EDC?

I totally don't know anything about fixed blades, but I would like to purchase just one. I'm thinking, maybe something easy to carry, lightweight, affordable(about$150 or below) and concealable. One I'm looking at right now is a Strider ED. What else should I look into? I just want one, which should I get? Maybe a Spyderco? Something around 4" would do. Thanks!

You can get a pretty sweet custom for under $150.
Rick Hargis makes great knives for unbelievable prices (among many many others).
What do you think you will be using your knives for?

Tactical or more traditional?
What handle material(s)?
For self-defense or backpacking/bushcrafting?
Steel type?
Sheath type?
Blade profile, thickness, grind?

More for self-defense, backpacking, Tactical. The rest, I'm open to.

I'll look into Rick Hargis.

Thanks

Here is one Rick has available now...his hunter is a great model. But if you want something smaller, check out his bulldog model, its my most used knife. If he doesn't have one available, shoot him an email and he will make one up for you.

Neck knife, look at Spartan Enyo or Phobos.

MD Caldwell makes great knives. Best micarta scales snywhere. Some places sell his 4" blade. Check if he plans to do some 3".

Could also look a smaller Swamp Rat knives. I think they have some in stock that would be good EDC.

ESEE Izula, Izula II, 3
Becker BK11, BK14
Bark River Little Creek, Essential EDC, Necker or Necker II, Mikro Canadian II, PSK

Any will serve you well, and all have fantastic warranties should a VERY unlikely failure occur.

Scrapyard Scrapivore, hands down. All Busse kin knives are awesome, but for the price, and the form factor, you can't beat this 'un.

ESEE knives make various sizes and are tough as nails

I EDC a Benchmade Nim Cub II for self defense/utility. A custom sheath would make it easier to conceal

I have five fixed blades that see pocket time, my Burt Foster Dark Side, Tom Krein Hydra, Seamus Jackson and Swamp Rat Swamp Warden. I would readily recommend any of these for daily carry. THere is also the Spartan Enya, ESEE Izula, CRK Soldier and the Becker Necker that all have good reps. Of course there are plenty of other great ones out there, those are just the ones that I have handled. Oh, also a Dozier or Snody if you can get your hands on them. I have wanted a Snody Menace for years but haven't managed to find one for sale.

Gotta give my vote to kfu. His handles are dreamy and his convex will cut you from the mailbox

Its hard to find the right size/thickness edc knife. Just when you (I mean anyone by saying you) find your favorite blade, you'll notice that the handle doesn't have the grip set so that there is a "lump" near the blade and a lump at the rear of the handle, so you can push the knife into something like cardboard and be able to pull the knife back out. Here are a couple pics of some cheap boot knives.
The first two don't have a lump at the tail end of the handle.

This one has somewhat of a good shape in my opinion, but the guard could get caught on a shirt, maybe its too large?

I may buy this one just for the handle. I think this handle wrapped in the center with hockey stick tape would be pretty good

I like this Counter Tac II handle, but it still seems to be missing something

Good luck, Ive been putting ideas together to have one made
