Well, the first question that always gets asked is this: what will it be used for? then of course there are others: what size, blade type(style), etc. all these will help for us to be able to make any kind of a recommandation to you.

wat i will do with it... hmm....
i will only use it when i am call up for army... again... once a yr... for another 13 yr.... and about 2 to 3 week... per call.......

Livesay Air Assault,I know you didnt list 1095 but Newt makes a hell of a knife, and the air assault would be something you should look at.Plus the air assaults handle is the best imho.

Newt's NEW web page at:

http://www.newtlivesay.com/newt_livesay_AA.htm

says that he is making a D2 Air Assault now.

Price is $200.

Shipyard,
Yes, it's 1095 steel, but with a little bit of common sense, 1095 can be very rust resistant. The key is to never put it away wet - it's that simple. A good wipe-down with a good oil after each use will prevent any problems.

You are correct - 1095 sharpens very easily and takes and holds a good edge.

The only potential downfall is its price - about $169.00 if you shop around. I think it is a knife well worth the money, however. :)

Hi Shipyard,

The "teeth" at the back are called "Rippers" There not serrations or saw teeh. The Strom Rider is a part of TOPS combat series knives. The rippers are a designed for creating exit damage when the knife is pulled out. The blade is coated with a black traction coat.

I second that vote for the Livesay Air Assault. Newt is having a sale now and you can get one for $100 IIRC
