The Flashlights I own are:

Surefire 9P (P91)
Surefire M2
Maglite 3D
3 AA Mini-mags (w/Nexstar Xenon Bulbs)
Pelican Mitylite Magnum 2AA
UK2AAA Mini Pocket Light
Photon II White

I like the M2 and the UKE 2AA the best.

Like everyone else I really want an E1. I also will soon get a Scorpion. I would really like a Surefire 12PM, but even on sale at Botach it still is $129. I also want a PT Blast and Rage, UKE 2L, Silver AAA Mini-mag, Turquoise Photon II, and a 4D Mag.

How 'bout you all, what do you own and wish you owned?

Also, any suggestions of flashlights that I lack, that you consider a must-own?

Bucky

I think every flashlight enthusiast should wield the might of 500+ lumens, either in a SureFire 12PM or M6. I can't wait to try setting something on fire with mine. I think I'm going to name my M6 "Mjolnir".

What I own. Maglite, 6C,3D Mininmag. Streamlight,Stinger and Scorpion.Surefire 3P(live and learn).LED Inova Microlights. Just got the Scorpion, love it! The minimag I've had for many years its been from the Adirondacks to the Yukon, its been hunting canoeing and been in more that one burning building with me, not the brightest not the most advanced but dollar for dollar hard to beat.

The only strong want on my list right now is the SureFire E1. Actually, I also strongly desire SureFires with plastic bodies rather than metal, supposing they ever become available.

Beyond that, I'm toying with the idea of one of those super-duper Surefire lights. 500 lumens sounds cool, but the M4 and M6 are absurdly priced, and I've heard mixed reviews about the 12Z (thermal shutdown within 15 seconds, etc.).

The SureFire 12PM/ZM is a Tactical Entry Light, designed to flash and blind. It will overheat after about 3 minutes depending on the air temperature. It's not really designed to be used for more than 30 secs at a time. That's what the M6 is for. The M4 with 350Lu lamp will not shut down either.

Considering the small proportions of the Flashlight, it is for times, situations and places which would be unsuitable for a large spotlight to be used (with a firearm etc), but where huge amounts of light can give you atleast vital seconds advantage.

SureFire 6P, M3
MagLite 2D, 4D, 6D
Brinkman 3D
UK 2L, 2AAA (several)
EternaLight
ASP Baton Light
Insight M3 weapon light
Assorted Photons
MagLite Solitaire 1AAA (POS)
Infinity LED

I just ordered a Krill 180 Extreme and I'm looking for someplace that has the Photon II Overdrive.

size15s: Exactly, I realize that the design criteria for the 12Z -- as a tactical entry light -- doesn't really match my intended compact spotlight use.

There's been some talk about how close the Streamlight 35 comes to the 12Z in brightness, though I can't remember the outcome. Is it close at all? Unfortunately, I've had such universally bad experiences with rechargeable batteries (although not with Streamlight in particular), I probably wouldn't go that route.

Of SureFire's current offerings, the M3 seems as good a choice as any as a compact spotlight. At 250 lumens, it'll be pretty bright, and the M4 at only 100 lumens more might not be a huge difference. Although the short runtime of the M3 at 250 lumens is a bit of a bummer. The M3, when highly discounted, begins to approach what I'm willing to spend on a flashlight, on days when I don't take my chemical imbalance medicine

I won't call the StreamLight SL35X a compact light. I heard that new rechargealbe systems are meant to be much better with no "memory" effect etc.

I can't remember the result either.

Can anyone give use a side-by-side comparision? Or a beam width at 20ft?
