What flashlights do you travel with?

I'll traveling overseas this summer and I am curious as to what flashlights you recommend bringing. My two concerns are battery availability and lifespan of the power for the light. I will probably bring my mini mag with opalec conversion, ARC AAA and PAL light. I would love to bring my Surefire or Inova X5 but I am concerned about the availability of the batteries.

Surefire L4 along with an E2c adapter so I can attach the head of my G2Z with P60 LOLA or P61 HOLA. I also pack a Petzl Tikka in my bag.

I carry an ARC LSH-P (Luxeon Star, High-dome Premium emitter). There's a 2AA battery holder if CR123s are not available. I also have a few the ARC AAAs and Surefire's (E1e, E2o, KL1, M2, E-to-C adapter, etc.) and I want an Opalec Newbeam.

You might also look at the Luxeon Star "pills" that replace the incandescent lamp in a 2AA maglite.

...A little off-topic, but I always have my Photon II with me (next to my SOG CrossCut) in the watch-pocket of my Levi jeans.

Thanks Glockman, I forgot about my Photon II attached to my Leatherman Micra which be acompanying me.

on me/in luggage a surefire E2e or C2 centurion, and a M3 in the car along w/a streamlight 5 "c" cell light for use as a impact device.

if could only have one, prob the C2 or the E2e, the E2e is pretty hard to beat, bright, easy to carry, small, a great light. the C2 is also good, but a little bigger and only a little brighter

An Arc AAA on my keychain goes with me everywhere. The choice of other flashlights depends on where and how I'm traveling. If I'm driving, then I'll have my SureFire D3, too. If I have to actually carry my luggage, then I'll have something smaller with me: SureFire E2E, Streamlight Scorpion or similar.

I've been carrying an ARC AAA LE for a longtime now. For about the last year I have also added a SureFire E2.

How much runtime do your really need? The ARC lasts a long time. The SureFire about an hour. If batteries are a concern, pop fresh ones in before you go or, pack a couple extra. Two Lithiums and a single AAA in my shave bag disappear for all practical purposes but, are there nice and handy if I ever need them.

Camera shops and Wal-Marts have all the batteries you need. You may not always like the price but, they are available in really remote areas of the USA.

I'm not sure how much run time I will need. I will be on a little Greek island for most of my trip. I just wanted a light or two for walking around at night. I doubt the one or two stores on the island carry lithiums. Thanks for all the suggestions.

If nothing else, the Arc AAA should take care of 99% of your lighting needs. Take a SF E2e or Inova X5 with fresh batteries for "emergency" needs.

I always carry my white Arc AAA w/Green GlowRing exclusively on a separate keyring, and my red Photon II on my keychain with keys. :D

Same as always ARC-AAA /w Glow-ring
and Arc-LS (hybrid for the CPF people)

It's so nice at camps to let a "camper" borrow
my Arc-AAA to get in and to sleep with out wakeing
everyone, and I can have them just toss it to the door
since I can find it later with the Glow-ring. Killer Combo!!!

I carry a Streamlight Twintask 3 AA(it's my new favorite) and just added an Arc AAA-LE. Also I have a white Inova Microlight on one keyring and Victorinox Midnite minichamp II(has red LED light) on the other keyring.

How do you like the Streamlight twin task? I have heard positive reviews. With a little luck it will be my next flashlight purchase.

Marc, I just took delivery of two of the 3AA Luxeons. It is a bit larger than we are accustomed to (been using a AA Mini-Mag/Opa-Lec for an around-the-house light), but it puts out a LOT of light. It is 27 yards from my back door to the wood line. This light puts out plenty enough to illuminate the wood line and clearly show whatever is there. Rather amazing for someone like me who judges LEDs by his ARC AAA and Opa-Lec NewBeam.

Quality appears to be standard StreamLite; IOW, excellent. One gripe, and you could say it a half of a gripe. One light has a pleasing soft blue hue, and the other is that horrid cat-piss yellow-green. I do NOT like that hue, but one of these is for my dad and it doesn't bother him, so all is well.

This light is too large for EDC unless you have a backpack or don't mind looking like a repairman. I'll wager, however, that it is going to become the #1 household light in this dwelling. The wife has already filched it twice to look for a certain pair of shoes deep in our closet; it literally puts the two D-cell Mag-lite she's been using for that purpose in the shade.

The SL-20 and Stinger are still the primary emergency lights, sitting there on trickle charge, and the Opa-Lec is indispensable for my modeling uses, where I need a good, even light that isn't too bright for peering into the corners of mechanics and fuselages. But for general purpose around-the-house use, this 3AA Luxeon is going to hard to beat. I already know I'm going to need another one.

I chose the Luxeon over the bi-level TaskLight for two reasons; more brightness, better overall quality of light, and no switch manipulations to get the light where I want it to be. Remember, this is mainly a fixed-base light, to be used at home or from the tool box. It is really too big to stick in your pocket.

I have found that most artifacts designed to accomplish more than one purpose generally fail to do anything really well. That's why I have an ARC AAA and E2 for EDC...;)

I like it alot. The best combination of LED/incandescant currently available for the money. Sturdy construction, reasonably small size, and uses cheap batteries with a recargeable option. It isn't quite as bright as a Surefire E2e or Brinkman LX, but close enough for my needs. It is about 2 inches longer than a Magliter 2AA and has a larger head(more bulbs/LEDs). Finding a belt holster for it has been a problem. I am trying a sheath from Ripoff's to see if it will work. I feel these are small problems compared to what it gives. It now allows me to carry a single light, when I used to carry a Brinkman LX and Lightwave 2000 and do so for short money.

I travel with a Surefire E1e and a G2 with a Princetontech attitude for back up.
