What folding knife do you guys recommend as an incision knife?

Basically a knife that could be brought along with a trauma or first aid kit that can be used to make incisions in an emergency medical situation. A folding scalpel type of sorts, not too small that it cannot be used as an EDC. Something that can balance between some EDC chores and minor surgical incisions.

Obviously large folders and serrated knives are not suitable for this as more precise control is needed for making small precise incisions.

Thanks

I would go with a ZDP Caly 3. Gets and stays really Sharp and has a nice thin blade and a coil so you can choke up for more control.

I've personally seen my Endura 4 FFG ZDP-189 as a sort of pocket scalpel.

Though to be perfectly realistic, carrying said pocket scalpel is an exercise in futility unless you're trained to do such emergency medical interventions.

Best to just call an ambulance instead.

Actually, I'm sure any blade with Rc 58 or higher sharpened to a hair whittling edge will do just fine in this regard.

A good quality stockman. That's exactly what the spey blade is designed for. Plus you get a good clip and a sheepsfoot. All very useful in the role you're inquiring about.

Get a traditional folder with 2 or 3 blades. Use one blade for EDC tasks and leave one blade untouched and razor sharp.

Something like this:

Take a look at the Victorinox Secretary. It is super light, super thin, the large blade can be used for misc cutting and the small blade is narrow, thin and very sharp, practically the size of a scalpel as well.

Piece of advice no. 1: Don't perform surgery with a goddamn pocket knife.

Piece of advice no. 2: Don't perform surgery PERIOD unless you're a surgeon.

Piece of advice no. 3: If you are a surgeon and intend to perform surgery, just put some scalpels or sterile exacto knives in your trauma kit.

Piece of advice no. 4: If you find yourself horribly maimed and there are no surgeons around, just pour some whiskey on it and extinguish your lit cigar on the wound. That's what John Wayne would do.

Yeah what he said.

But for s's and g's, my vote would go for buck vantage pro. S30V, hollow ground, made as a skinning knife, pretty close to the OP's initial usage

Folding scalpel eh? How about the havalon piranta, literally a folding scalpel. On a side note, this is my first post ever in BF! :D

Carry the knife of choice. Get a new razor blade and disinfect it,then seal it in small plastic bag and keep it in first aid kit. Just make sure the razor blade is wrapped in something so it doesn't cut other stuff.

I know this isn't a folder, but it's very small. I keep one in my wallet.

As has been said already. A multibladed knife and leave one of the blades razor sharp, while using the others for your edc stuff. That's assuming you've had some kind of training and know what you're doing.

This one may be hard to find but it's a "doctor" pattern and actually comes with a scalpel secondary blade.
