Trying to find out what knife out there has an "M" on the blade. It has a thumb scallop, thumb studs and a low pocket carry clip for a very discrete carry. Tried Microtech still can't find it. Saw it carried by a guy during Iraqi Freedom. He modified it by carving out another thumb scallop to use it as a lefty. Thanks.

Have a mini-grip and would like to modify the thumb stud to prevent it from getting caught on my pocket. I am a lefty and would like to file down one of the studs to prevent inadvertent opening when taking it out of my pocket. Would filing down one of them work or is there a "dummy" stud to replace one half of the stud assembly?

Herkflyer, welcome to Bladeforums! :D

I can't help you with the M knife. Too many possiblities, including an off-brand I never heard of, and your description otherwise could be any of hundreds.

There's a Chinese knock-off outfit named Master-Tech, I think, that might have made it.

A picture or the size and shape of blade and handle might help or any other markings.

Go ahead and file the thumbstud. I'm sure that will turn out easier and shape it exactly to your liking, than putting in another whole set-up. You don't have to file it completely flat.

You might contact Benchmade, though. I don't have that problem with my Griptilian because it's the opening-hole version.

Could be "Magnum" I believe they have a bit M with "agnum" in much smaller letters on their knives.
