What gauge of wire is used to make omega springs?

My wife dragged me to hobby lobby earlier, and while I was there I saw they have a selection of titanium wire. I was thinking this would be good for making new omega springs, has anyone tried this? I have read about using piano wire but I think titanium would work better. Also, if you have tried this what gauge of wire did you use?

It varies from one knife to another from what I've seen. Smaller knives have thinner wire. I'd guess 16ga or 18ga would close.
