It seems that the last month or two have really seen all sorts of newer models that weren't here when I started lurking on the forum. Are the Kami's getting bored with HI's traditional lineup or are they realizing that any well made tool they create will be voraciously devoured by your clientel.
This is by no means a complaint. Are there many more models or regional types that may be on the horizon? Hell, if these Kami's can keep food on the table and repay loans that quickly then maybe the talent pool won't die out. Here's hoping!
Always a pleasure Bill,
Sutcliffe

Hi Sut:

The resident village kami program along with models that are now appearing at shop 2 brought in by village kamis or pals delivering for them has given us an infinite number of varities. I think we will be seeing a never ending supply of "new and improved" khukuris.

I'm delighted with it -- and, yes, we seem to be selling everything we get.

The greatest benefit that I see is some of the kids are getting to work with real master kamis and are learning a lot. If we can keep them busy my fear of the old skills dying off may have gone for nothing. I am very pleased about this.

That is so true, Uncle. Without the young people learning the old ways, much is lost.

Traditionally great craftsmen passed on their knowledge. Our society seems to have lost that, and we are poorer because of it.

A classroom cannot subsitute for hands on experience under the eye of a Master. It will be good to see the traditions live on.

Bill,

I had hoped this would happen and am glad it is. On your part, you need to develop someone to help you along, with similar passion and compassion. Just a thought.

Sing, I could not agree more. I need a backup system for myself. I am approaching 500 days at this screen without a single day off and that is not good for me or for HI. But where can I find a person who will work like this for little or nothing?

Uncle Bill,

We have all said it before so I'll say it again. "TAKE A VACATION!!!!!!!" As for who could fill your shoes... noone! However Rusty is close, and is incureably afflicted with HIKV. He seems to be of the proper character and moral fiber. Intelligence certainly isn't an issue. Perhaps he could be persuaded to trade labor for goods. Of course it could be like a crack addict being given control of an unlimited supply of product.... but these are the chances that we must take! (vbeseg)(did I use that correctly Yvsa?)
Just a thought.

Mike

Mike, that is certainly a good idea but we will have to see if Rusty is up to it. He has had a couple of health problems lately himself and I don't think we can "volunteer" him for the project without his consent.

:
You did Mike.
I developed that particular grin when I was about six years old and discovered that girls were MUCH different from boys.(VBESEG)
You can just imagine a good knife and a proper fitting scabbard.

And I will go take my medicine before Uncle tells me to.
