What gloves do you wear?

I was just wondering what kind of gloves people wear when they go out in the woods. I don't mean winter gloves, more along the lines of utility gloves. I am looking at the mechanix m-pact gloves and they seem like a good option. However, just wanted to get some input from the experienced people here.

I typically wear goatskin work gloves. They are inexpensive, lightweight, surprisingly durable and have good tactility.

Currently use these.

Whatever you can get your hands one work well. One thing to look for though, the artificial leather palms have really good feel, but they melt at only a couple hundred degrees, so be aware. Pretty easy to get the handle of a pot or mug hot enough to melt them.

I use heavy duty pigskin leather gloves for heavy work. I go through about a pair per year, sometimes two. When the gloves get all oily or nasty from other stuff, it's time to toss them and get another pair. I also use Mechanix gloves, the fit on them is hit and miss for some reason. I have used various kinds. One draw back to them is the velcro absolutely sucks. It doesn't necessarily hold the gloves closed after a while. I find sewing them closed is a better option.

I wear the MPact gloves for work but the nylon construction is not that well suited for wear in the woods [per se]....

I mean for general use they are ok but if you are going hog wild with fire and axe-work......no, not so good.

few reasons....
nylon.....not good near flames or extreme heat.
Nylon with leatherette palms...stitching breaks and pads peel under extreme use.
When they fit properly, they will help reduce blisters BUT the lining will eventually break down from extreme use, actually causing blisters. When wet, the lining binds and abrades the skin.

If you are doing any kind of woods-work, you are way better off with a good-fitting pair of leather work gloves like these:

Are any of these particularly good for wide hands\short finger? Whenever I get a pair that fit on the hand, its the equivalent of "clown shoes" because the glove fingers extend well beyond my actual fingers. In golf, they call these "cadet" style but I can't find any information on regular gloves.
