I'm looking to put an Antler Crown on a new bowie knife, what glue should I use and any tips advise please? I'm a complete novice having brought the blank to do this with. Thanks all.

Rich.

I'd second that. Ask over there. Thats not as an easy project to do well as it might seem. There are guys there that do it on a daily basis so you'll get lots of tips regarding other aspects that will definitely help your project. I make a lot of knives but work mostly on full tang models so its a different process than what you'll be doing. So not much help there. As far as glue GFlex epoxy is hard to beat.

IMHO - can't beat JB Weld . . . gip.

Actually you can beat jb weld with quite a few epoxys. JB Weld is not the end all be all that some people think.

A tip for attaching a crown. Don’t cut it off the antler in the first place lol

Slow cure epoxy.
There are many different brands, just pick a slow cure, mix well, and let it set in a warm room. Epoxy doesn't like cold when it sets

General rule of thumb is the slower the curing the stronger. Stay away from the 5-30min cure stuff. My preferred epoxy is 72hr to full cure.

Agreed - slow cure. My preferred brand that is easy to get is System Three T-88. Woodcraft carries it, as well as other System Three epoxies.

West and Sysem Three are probably the best brands that are easy to find. I am migrating over to the West G-Flex for a nubbier of applications. I still have the West 105/206 mix for the big stuff. Make sure that if you buy Ws, you get the G Flex and not the 5 minute stuff. That version is for tacking things together while the slower cure epoxy sets up properly. And when they say 5 minute, they aren't kidding!!!!

GFlex is awesome. As noted above, stay away from the 5 minute stuff you see on FIF.

I've heard of guys having luck with store bought epoxy. Preparation is key, clean with rough finish for the epoxy to bite into. If it was my own knife and a one off I may try a hardware brand but if it for someone else it would be GFlex for sure.

I tested BSI midcure and G-Flex in a head to head. In my opinion the G-Flex defiantly has the edge, however, I think they’re both suitable for knife handles.

You won’t be disappointed with West Systems G-Flex... You can get a decent price on Amazon.
