into your BOB (bug out bag)?

I would enjoy hearing what you guys keep in those bags in the trunks of your cars and within reach at home for the just in case scenarios... We have the best knives, so what do you keep next to them? I am still working on mine which includes the standard amount of first aid, flashlight, etc... maybe we can list the top ten essential gadgets and supplies...

Sorry if this is not the right place for this.

My BOB needs some help. I've got plenty of sharp things but then I'm generally lacking in the rest of the bag ;)

I do have several good lights, firesteel, windproof/waterproof lighter, 100' of Paracord, a compact radio, first aid kit including tylenol and motrin, duct tape, leatherman, pen and paper, space blanket.

I've got to take it all apart and start from scratch as I have several duplicate items and I'm missing a lot of stuff. :D:D

I'm redoing my BOB to better suit the terrain of where I moved to so my list is fluid (in more ways than one;) ) and not up to date.

However, On my grab to go out for a while belt is a 1 quart canteen with iodine pills in the little pocket, a Basic #7 with a Leatherman Supertool, a magnesium bar with striker and some prepacked/sealed tinder.

Your BOB's contents would vary due to many things, not the least of which being the season, the anticipated terrain, duration of capability, etc.

Certain things remain constant however. Fire, water, clothes and shelter. More luxurious considerations include first aid, meds, communications, navigation and the like.

Most here have their own favorite ways of starting fires and there are many commercially available prodicts to suit that need.

Water can be tricky, but iodine, a PUR filter and containers are something to think about. Ther's nothing like dry/fresh clothes to brighten things up and though with enough time, skill and a Busse Knife you can build about any type of shelter imaginable, I find that heavy duty contractor's garbage bags and cordage help out in a pinch.

There are some great threads on the SURVIVAL forum here under TACTICS & TRAINING. A lot of kits and info on contents, as well as pros and cons for some content items.

If you want more, try the Equipped.org BOB listings.

In my experience, you will find many combinations, and as Nimrod said, it will come down to many environmental influences (as well as financial). The BOB you'd have if you lived in a desert area will be different than one for the Everglades.

Whatever you do, buy quality components. Doesn't have to be top of the line, but read up on what has worked for others and buy the best you can swing.

Thanks fellas... I figured there would be some prepared INFI addicts out there to help out on this topic!

Cheers.... and hopefully the BOB will never be needed!
