What grit paper would you use next on this blade?

I really like this knife and want it to turn out perfectly. Coating was removed, then I used a Dremel with green and white compounds. Next 600 - 1000 grit paper. Now what? 1200 -2000 grit or even finer grit? What would you do?

Thanks in advance for all thoughts on this.

If you're going for as fine a polish as possible, sequence your grit chain as tightly as you can. No big gaps; something like 1200/1500/2000 and beyond (these grits I know are available; if you can find others in between those, so much the better).

I want a finish almost approaching a semi mirror look. Spent a lot of time already but it is worth it to me. Would you use a crosshatch sanding by hand or would you use a palm sander? I have been using a rubber sanding block.

If I had a palm sander (I don't), I'd think that should help. I have seen some posts here, from others, who've had some trouble finding higher-grit paper for those. Might have to improvise by cutting regular wet/dry paper to shape, to adapt to the palm sander.

If sanding by hand, I'd go with a cross-hatch pattern, and reducing pressure as you get higher in grit. Take your time, and don't move up in grit until you're absolutely sure the scratches from the previous grit are completely gone. Otherwise, they'll really stick out like sore thumbs, as the blade becomes more highly polished.

I have two(2) palm sanders, one is orbital and one simply vibrates. Make sure you use one that just vibrates. I have found grits for mine going to 2500 (wet/dry) IF you can't find velcro backed ones just afix velcro with gorilla glue you just need the tip of the sander anyway. the Palm Mouse is a good one. Like OWE's said keep the increments tight but 2500 should be doable for sure.
