I'm in my pre-burnout stage making these lamination slabs for handle scales, once I'm burned out I'm done making these but I need to hang in there as I have about 4 gallons left of resin to use up. These pics will give you a little idea as to what I have already made.. What color or colors do you want to see?

First picture 3/4 over 1/4 down looks yellow and brown (i'm color blind) That one looks cool. Second pic, first row, fifth one over, looks cool. Actually that whole first row is sweet.

Those are pretty cool. How about college colors? I see a blue and orange (Fl Gators). Might need to get a slab of that for a knife for my son.
Black and bright yellow. Can you make some that look "spalted"?

Are those knives made from the same material as the scales? Pretty cool.

My wife's family is in Gainesville FL and I have wanted to make them Gator Knives. I would be in for some Orange and Blue.

Great idea to do college colors. I may have an order for an OU knife soon, so maroon and white would be needed.

Maybe some pink and brown?

12345678910 I've done purple/black high contrast and have another purple ready for laminating I just need to get my arse to work....

Sam Thanks! ya that one came out way better than I thought it would...

VictGerbSogCamill The one that sits a top of the blue & white running up and down? That is a steel gray color, brown colors I have not really worked with yet...

Railrider1920 I'll have to find a site that has all of the college colors on it so I can print it out when it comes time to match those colors for laminating..yep Gator colors that one is. I dont know if I could get a "spalted" look from solid colors, that might give me something to work on....Those are just a few of the knife shapes I have done out of the slabs, that's how I test what I'm making then I give most of them away.

jawilder I've done a few pink and black but not pink and brown, might have to do one up to see how it looks...

Glow in the dark G10 ?

Glowy stuff is always cool, and camo "patterns" seem pretty popular. The college colors are a great idea too.

How about red, white and blue... make knife handles for real patriots (and people born on the fourth of July). Done right and one could even carve a design in it (e.g. a Texas flag). Better still if the white glowed in the dark.

Or maybe red, white and green to make knives for sale to ex-pats from Mexico.

Pink and blue... for the sexually ambiguous, or as a gift for expecting parents that don't know the sex of the child.

Rainbow hues (all primary colors) .... knife handles for openly gay people proud of their status.

Multiple shades of green (with one layer of brown) for tree-huggers and general environmentalists.

I could go on, but you're probably already bored.

Rasta Style... Black Red Gold and Green

Awesome work by the way, cool you posted it here I was just checking it out on another site a few days ago

I can see applications for all the color combos you have pictured, and the idea of college/team colors is EXCELLENT.

The high contrast combos are the most spectacular, but IMHO there is also a place for the less flashy combinations that might simulate a wood grain, or serve a camo purpose.

Personally I recall a photo of a knife with a black and white laminate handle that knocked my socks off. I've wanted to try that combination since I saw it.

For the college colors, check with your repeat customers and see if they have any favorites or maybe do a poll here to see what might be the favorite top 5. That might give you an idea of what colors to do up that might sell better than others.

How long will the resin keep in the shop or in your house? Why not just take a break from making up scales and get past your burn out phase? Take a break and do something else. Go back to it later.

Smart thinking! There are several combinations that match different colleges. Nebraska and Wisconsin both wear red and white, for instance. Go Badgers! :)

james terrio The glow in the dark stuff is fun to make but expensive overall, now I know why Moon Glow is so expensive for that think stock.

tryppyr A few days ago again I had a mental block sitting in front of a bunch of material that I had already cut out ready laminating and just could not come up with any color combo that I would be happy making, I've done a few Red White and Blues the last one was a mix of paper and canvas, bu the others you mentioned are all good ideas!...nope not bored but thinking...thanks!

Daniel-Fairly-Knives Thanks! I would never get anything done going for Rasta colors, living close to Big Sur and listening to Black Uhuru wow thats a blast from my past...! The gold is one of the tough colors to find right and work with....

Paul Do you remember where you saw the black & white? I've made a few of these and what is cool about black and white is that there are so many different types of black material to use out there, so each slab could have a different material pattern once it is ground like what you see in the 2nd photo down top row you see the horizontal black lines, I only get that from that material.

Railrider1920 Had I been a business I would have had a decent contact list and a record of who bought what, but I dont and I only kept a single photo of the slab I sold in my photo galleries as a reminder to what I did make, making these crazy things to help pay of vet bills I never keep records because once those were paid off I'm done making these..I can go through that 4 gallons pretty fast which I think I'll do just to be done with it...

james terrio Red and White is a popular color here... the one photo up there has a knife thing I made from Red and White slab that I tested...

VictGerbSogCamill Scarlet and Gray...Scarlet is a color I have not not bought or used before, if you can post up the shade of scarlet?
