Looks like either red or burgundy linen micarta. What do you think this material is? The color variation in the layers makes me think that it isn't G10 but the tightness of the weave makes me think that it may not be canvas micarta either. What say the hogs?

That's kinda what I was thinking too.Looks like either red or burgundy linen micarta.
Kind of need G-Man to speak - I think he's the only one who can get close to the crab Shack - we know they throw knives at Jerry if he tries to breach that area of the shop. That's really crazy the more you look at it. Never seen anything like it, in fact that's true about quite a few of the surprises!
It sure had that stacked mammoth tooth right off the bat and I assume that was the theme here- but wth is it? ... the more I look at it the more I like it- and like Will said, that red G10/canvas? looks really nice and I think that's because we don't get to see it.
Len, have you met those Crab Shack guys? LOL.. getting the day of the week out of them would be tough
JK of course
My vote is red or ruby canvas micarta, possibly a shade tree type with less compression on the weave to give it that more open pattern.
From what I have been told they get sent samples all of the time or just buy up random stuff they like and that's what ends up in the shack.
Also, there's the company Shade Tree, which it could very well be, but there is the old school term "shade tree" mechanic which is a term for a do it yourselfer, which could also apply. People who make their own tend to not do it under high pressure.
If I remember the story correctly the "G" actually stands for Garth.Usually, that G-rex'd style is G10....hence the G....but I'm no expert!
Huh! I had always figured "shade tree" Micarta, when referenced as such, was a brand/brand's designation. Never entered my mind it could be referring to a knife maker's own in-house stuff or a sourced but low production non-standardized attempt by someone else. I wonder now.
