A few years ago Benchmade was offering various serialized limited editions of Blue and Black class knives. These knives were usually made in batches of around 500 pieces, and were upgrades from the regular models. They were also priced within the Blue and Black class range, meaning that they were affordable user-knives versus more artsy Gold class stuff. One example was a limited serialized run of the Griptilian with a CPM-M4 blade.
I have noticed that Benchmade has released various "upgraded" versions of models of the Griptilian with grey/blue G10, and that they are selling different blade options for the Griptilian, as well as other knives. I have not noticed any limited edition runs of Blue or Black class knives that were Serialized. I thought the serialized knives were cool because you could say "hey, I own #178 out of 500 pieces, and out there somewhere are 499 other people with this same special knife".
Note: Dealer exclusives in which the knives are limited to any given dealer, but not Serialized, are not the same thing. I have noticed some limited-to-dealer runs, but not any of the Serialized runs.
Any thoughts on this?
