What happened to Executive Edge?

Anyone know what happened to Executive Edge knives? For those that weren't around, Executive Edge became somewhat well known for making thin bladed knives with a nearly cylindrical handle that, when folded, looked like a pen. They even had a clip on it that made the whole knife look like a pen when clipped in a shirt pocket. This site http://www.covecutlery.com/Category.cfm?CategoryID=157 still has a picture.

I actually have one of the pen-type knives, but I always wanted one of the bigger ones, like the Outdoorsman. Funny how your memory gets jogged, even years later. My buddy just picked up an Exective Edge Fazendeiro and that reminded me that I wanted one, but couldn't find one.

Good-looking knives. I remember seeing ads for them, but I haven't seen any for years, and I've done a few Searches -- no luck on a retailer. I think the original manufacturer is out of business. A couple of hits mention a knife made just like the original. I wouldn't bet on it.

Hi Klesk,

I picked up a Grande at a local law enforcement supply store about 8 mos. ago......think it was discounted to $34.00 or thereabouts. (last one they had...not carrying them anymore) I've had one of the "normal" sized models for ages....seems like 20+ years. If I remember, when I get home I'll check the Grande's paperwork and see if there's any pertinent info! :-)

As usual guys, thanks for the info.

Tommy: there are 3 places I get my knives on the island. First, is a gun shop in Mapunapuna, on the ocean side of the freeway from Tripler Army Hospital. The shop is called Young Guns, and they have a good assortment of production stuff, mostly Benchmade, Spyderco and CRKT. Their prices are pretty good, particularly when they have a sale going on.

The second place, where I buy most of my knives, is Power Edge on Waialae Avenue, between 11th and 12th. They have most everything in the production arena, lots of Spyderco, Benchmade, CRKT along with some Gerber, Buck, Microtech and MOD. They also have a few Sebenzas and some handmade Elishewitz along with Surefire and the odd Strider custom. The prices are a tiny bit on the high side, but even if you find the same knife $10 - $20 cheaper on the mainland, you still have to pay for shipping and you don't get to handle the knife before you buy.

Finally, for the best prices, you have to go to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium on the weekend. I'll try to describe the location of the booth as best as I can. It's in the first ring of vendors from the outside, near the Salt Lake Boulevard entrance. If you're in the parking lot looking at the big main Aloha Stadium sign, it's between 1/8 and 1/4 around the stadium, going clockwise. The guy there has most of the production stuff, some discontinued stuff just hanging around (CS Recon Scout: $98, Gerber MOP Knights: $68, BM Stryker: $75), and about 2 or 3 dozen handmades/high-end production. He's got a few Mayos, Onions, some damascus and limited edition Sebenzas and a few other fairly well-known makers.

If you need more info, don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail.
