What happened to Graham Bros. Knives?

It looks like you can't really get their knives at this point and I'm pretty surprised that they didn't ever seem to develop much of a following. I thought their ideas were great and their builds were tremendous but I don't hear much about them.

Does the knife builders community suffer much from the "Flavor of the month"? I see that quite a bit with my other hobby (guitars) so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that knife builders get hot and then cool off too. :)

I have not talked to either of them of late, has something changed that I am not aware of? They had quite a backlog of orders. They diversified a bit with more traditional designs.

I just noticed that you can't order from them and I know that they're offering the Razel design in a folder through CRKT. I couldn't tell if they've stopped with their custom production or not but it doesn't look like you can get anything at this point. I assumed that this may have been due to a lack of interest in their custom work. I know that when people see my Razel they're bothered by it (even when they're not bothered by more traditional styles of knives). They seem to thing it's a straight razor and that's a design that makes some people uncomfortable.

I believe Josh went back to his old job. Jon continues as far as I know to make knives. I normally see them at the Blade Show, but I have skipped the last couple of years. I drop by their shop periodically. The Razels are still listed on CRKT's web site/catalog. I have the CRKT Ringed Razel and the Stubby folder. My original intention was to try the design out with the less expensive CRKT version and order one of their customs. I like the stubby, but never really developed a serious liking for the Ringed Razel. CRKT web site: http://www.crkt.com/Razel-SS7

I spoke with Jon last summer and he is indeed still making custom knives. And, yes, from what he said, Josh moved on to other things.

I have a Ringed Persian on order (from back in July). Up until just recently, orders were open. But about a week or so ago I noticed he had temporarily closed orders. I'm still on the list as far as I know.

Cool to know.

I really enjoy their work and I hope to have more of their knives in the future. :)
