Does anyone know what happened to Hess Knifeworks? I own two of their knives and wanted to buy another. However, nobody seems to stock them anymore. I emailed knivesshipfree and they suggested I post here.

I have a local B&M that usually has some in stock, they did when I was there just before Christmas
The name of the place is
Rivers Edge Cutlery
They are in central Ohio but I’m pretty sure they do online and mail orders as well.

They made some nice looking traditional fixed blades. Don't know what happened to them. Beat down by foreign imports?--KV

As I recall, GEC made the blade blanks for Hess and they finished them.

The Bark River Canoe is sort of "Hess-ish".

CollectorKnives has carried them in the past. Mike Latham, the owner of CollectorKnives is a member here.

He might know.

Last I knew dad had turned the business over to son and production continued but at a veeerrry slow pace. I kept orders in for a year or so; but it finally got to where it was more trouble than it was worth. My guess is they are still producing some in the garage - but just at a pace that doesn't leave much of a supply footprint.

Best bet is to call . I talked with the son and he was very busy. 906 428 1684.
I have bought about 8 from them. The Tiburon is my favorite. They made the handle out of walnut i had .
The bark river canoe is a marble pattern. And i think they are being made again.
I visited them in 2015 . Great people.

It's a pity as I've been very impressed by their knives and I buy them from outside the USA. Very satisfied with the quality.

There is still a dealer, close to me, that has several on hand. More in his inventory now than when I purchased a whitetail last year, so I’m guessing they are still making them. The dealer does some SFO’s through GEC, but I can’t remember if he’s a supporting dealer of BF, so I’ll leave his name off.

If anyone knows any place that is stocking these at all, I would love to hear about it. I've been on the hunt for a Tiburon or Muley handled in some kind of burl for several months now. :(

I'm about ready to give Andy a call at Hess Knifeworks and see if he's still producing anything.

Gunstock Jack's has some sweet ones. I have been eyeing one this past week

I found this site recently. Maybe Hess knives is still making knives.

Nice find! I might have to finally grab a Muley to go with my Tiburon. :)

I have ordered a Bird & Trout and Whitetail, both with cocobolo grips, from them and been very happy with delivery and with the knives themselves.

Update: I believe the party is over. I can't find any contact info, and the last website said they were retooling a couple of years ago.

It's too bad, they made beautiful knives.
