What ever happened to Kevin McClung and MadDog knives?

I have many and after a few years on the sidelines, I return and cannot find his products any longer...

He's around and still making knives.

He also has his own forum. Just do a search for Tactical Forums dot com (leave out the spaces and insert a period for the dot).

we've been through that before...
and don't really want to go there again ;)

www.mdtactical.com is a dealer site - Kevin McClung owns and operates www.tacticalforums.com

In addition to building the finest knives I have ever used, he also is a very talented gunsmith and engineer, has taken on Second Chance and Armor Holdings body armor companies in recent years over their lethally flawed Zylon vests (and incidentally brought about numerous huge lawsuits filed by repsective state AG's in the process) and has held several charity auctions in the last year for folks in need.

C'mon by and say hi.

Just to clear up the lawsuit thing. I believe the suits in mention were brought about to recover costs that the municipalities or states had spent buying vests that were made of a material that has proven to be unreliable for use in balistic vests. It is not a tort case it is to recover costs spent on a defective product. Much like you or me returning a defective purchase for a refund. There is some arguable evidence that the product manufacturers in question knew about the possible problems in thier product and chose to not reveal those facts but to continue to sell their product which may have cost the lives of more than one police officer.

That is my readers digest version of what I have read about the subject. Mad Dogs products or personality is not the issue in these lawsuits and he appears to be solidly on the side of protecting law enforcement by trying to expose some possible lethal dangers in some lines of body armor. I find it damn hard to fault the guy for those actions! no matter your thought on this guy it is difficult to argue that he is not right in this issue!

KnifeOutlet, go over to TFC and read up on what you are ignorant of.

He makes his living making knives, and spends a good deal of that money exposing problems in a pleothora things related, in addition a a great deal of R/D on all sorts of Tactical Items, not merely his knives. Vests happen to be a personal pet issue.

He has spent a great deal of personal and company funds on exposing the problems related to Zylon, specifically how Zylon degrades when exposed to heat, moisture and light. Like, say, in your vest.

I have been present for iterations of the conversation in which he has steadfastly refused to take a dime towards recouping costs, which run into the thousands, much less "Making his money suing people."

Remind me again how much KO has donated in time/ money to any such cause, I would seriously be interested in knowing.

Judging by MD work, his knives appear to be tough and usable. MD knives sell quickly at good prices. The used ones i've personally seen, mostly at gun shows, showed signs of heavy use and sometimes abuse. They weren't pretty but still fully functional. They also weren't cheap.

Brownshoe, they clean up really well with a little flitz, a little naptha and a few minutes. The edges buff clean really easily as well and the handles, I have taken the odd ding out of mine, but I had to work at it.

Try one out - if you do not care for it, email me and we can work something out.

Mad Dog is controversial at times as he can be high-strung, opinionated and does not suffer fools gladly. This can turn some folks off. For those who know the man, they see these as human traits of someone who is more intelligent than many, gifted, talented, hard-working, driven and a solid patriot who turns out skillfully made knives that are in high demand. And when you factor in the amount of hand work that goes into the knives, they suddenly don't appear costly at all.

You sound like a sock puppet for Kevin.

The guy is a raving looney and needs to be locked up.

Regardless of who he is or who he has pissed off, you don't need to be bumping old threads and stirring up trouble! Don't troll!

Have yu posted anything usefull?
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/search.php?searchid=245591

bumping old threads = bumping more then one thread from varying dates on the same subject, to offer only critisism *and slurs* (other thread = 3 1/2 months old). especially when concerning a topic that has a lot of history behind it, wich can easily be found using simple topic searches through google, and bladeforums.

when every single post you have is in reference too, or in a thread involving bashing or critisizing mcclung, it makes you appear very interested in putting mclung down, and not very interested in adding anything else.

Exactly.

We have people here who come to discuss knives and a few other related topics. And then we have people who come to gripe.

That's cool, too, if it's on a topic anyone else cares about, but ... as you can see ... Mad Dog does not have a presence here, so who are you talking to? Who are you trying to convince not to buy Mad Dog's knives?

This can only lead to a flame war. Kevin can accomodate you on his website if you want to fight. We don't need it.
