I went to take a look at my car this afternoon (parked outdoors in a driveway leading to a parking lot) and to my dismay, found this on my right front fender:
i don't understand. I'm uncertain that this might be a hit & run, or vandalism, as the body is not dented or marred in any way. it looks to me like a 4" split in paint, and the paint is curled up but still attached. underneath is the bare metal, from what i can see.
has anyone ever seen paint peel like this? would that be an accurate description of what is happening? i have not been involved in any accidents or made contact with other vehicles/barriers/lampposts... could this have anything to do with.. weather changes? we are slowly egressing out of a bitterly cold winter in massachusetts...
btw it is a 2007 nissan 350z, black.
i haven't touched it yet. I'm not in a position to get it fixed just yet, and i'll need to drive it sparingly throughout the next few weeks. i wonder if there is a temporary fix anyone might recommend to prevent any corrosion/damage to the existing paint and exposed metal beneath?
this is a real bummer
