What happened to my Surefire???

I just got a Surefire E2e two weeks ago and I love it! I've been keeping it in a cordura pouch in my pocket so that it doesn't rattle or get scratched up. I hadn't used it for a day or two, then last night I used it to shine under my desk as I was working on my computer. A couple seconds later I pressed the tail switch again and nothing happened. I twisted it on - and nothing. I tried new batteries, but nothing happened. I haven't dropped it or been rough with it at all - the bulb hasn't blown already has it???

The bulbs aren't cheap, so I hate to buy a new one just to see if that's the problem. Any other suggestions??

Thanks!

If the bulb has a dark shiny look to it near the tip it is blown. I would place a call to Surefire and see what they can do for you. It should not have blown that quickly after getting it.

Ken - Thanks, the bulb looks fine - not dark anywhere. I've also got a G2 and compared the two bulbs and they both look about the same. I'm pretty sure I can see what looks like a strong filiment line still intact in the bulb.

I'll give Surefire a call and see what I can fine out.

Wow. I just got off the phone with Surefire customer service. I gave them the same story from my earlier post and without any questions, the guy said he would send me a new lamp assembly. :D :D

Can't ask for any more than that! Makes me want to buy another one - not that I needed much convincing...

Surefire has, by far, the best CS dept. I have seen in a long time.

Quick story.....

I use a Surefire G2 as a back-up light in case I lose or damage my main light (Streamlight Survivor) in a fire or accident scene. I had an incident about a year ago where I had to use my G2 to chock open a door and to light up my means of egress out of a smoke filled, very hot apartment (ceiling temp was approx. 1000 degrees). Needless to say the light worked great and I got out in one piece. The light however, got charred around the bezel and bubbled the lens. It still worked but poorly. I was very surprised that the batteries didn't explode. I sent Surefire a letter and a check for a new light with a pic of the damaged G2 and within a week I got a brand new yellow G2. They returned my check uncashed. :)

We're also issued Streamlights with our fire gear. It's a volunteer department, so we don't see anywhere close to as much action as you guys do. I do use my Streamlight a lot, but I think I'm going to start bringing my G2 as a backup as well.

Agreed. A few weeks ago I was fiddling around with my G2 and managed to pull the spring out of the tailcap. Pretty smart move. Anyway, I wasn't able to get it back in after hours of trying, so I emailed them for suggestions and they told me they'd ship me a new tailcap free of charge. I just got it today and my light is now whole again.
