What happened to Schrade?

We still have a Schrade forum here, but now it's the Schrade Knives Collectors Forum.

There is still a plentiful supply of Imperial Schrade knives out there. Schradebay is one good source. The original US made 153UH Golden Spikes have black spacers, not red, and that is an easy to spot clue. Also, while not all sellers of the Chinese knives say they are Chinese, most sellers of the US knives say they are US knives. If not, ask! A quick search just now turned up 14 hits for them, and at least half are the Imperial Schrades, not the Chinese knives. Hope this helps!

Another big clue:
So Far, all the new blades are NOT stamped with USA.
and as Codger says. Ask the seller.
If the seller doesn't or won't respond ask us for help.

Guyon,
I did a quick google search a found a Golden Spike at:
http://www.classifiedbuyers.com/ItemDetail.asp?AdID=92495&BuySell=2&id=
It doesn't show a picture nor tell where it is made. You might find out more if you email the seller.
I have found a lot Schrades at in out-of-the-way hardware stores and feed stores. Sometimes I have even found some in some of the medium sized chain stores.
I have a Golden Spike and love it!
Good Hunting!

Thanks fellas. A more thorough Google search turned up some possibilities. Am going to visit my local hardware/army-navy stores and look for some of the Old Timer/Uncle Henry classics. Would like to set aside a few for my son.

Man, I'm really bummed about Schrade and must have had my head up my butt not to have heard or noticed. I have been reading/posting less here since my son was born.

Hate to see an American institution go like that. I grew up with Old Timers and Uncle Henrys in my pocket.
