What happened to the Benchmade 770 Series?

They are my favorite knives and I would love to see them back. The 770 is the most cherished but not necessarily the hardest to find.

I have noticed the popular auction has had a lot of them lately.

Although I don't think they have a huge following, I know several including myself that are huge 77X fans.

I have the 773, the one with black anodized aluminum scales. It was the first Benchmade I bought. I had wanted a 705 but they had been discontinued so I got the 773. It is a very nice gentleman's knife. The new 470 Emissary looks almost identical in design, but a tad larger.

I was gonna show off my collection of 77X's but I'm to lazy. Wished you could just post pictures straight to the site.

Here's mine on top, 771-BC1 with a 705 & 707 all the small BM's. the 77X group is the smallest axis lock BM. You should check out the new 470 Emissary from BM just like the 77X but auto axis. Very nice. :D

Thanks for the photos, oldangler.

Makes me realize why I like my 707 Sequel -- it's the wider blade.

BTW: My Mini Grip has a blade that's a near mirror image, but it's a lot less money than the Sequel. A bargain for a Benchmade.

I have an old 771-BC1 too . . . still new in its presentation box! It was a gift from an ex-GF many years ago (6 or 7, I think).
I just never carried it because it is a bit small for my personal tastes.
But it really is nice specimen, and I too wondered why they weren't more popular.

GF at least knew what ya liked Derek, a gentleman's knife for a gentleman, I would say. ;) I rarely carry mine either, but goes very nicely in the top pocket of a dress shirt. Look's just like a fancy pen, but more to the point.

...just checked out the 470 on BM's site, that is one nice knife.

Got a friend with CF one. Traded his BM42 for a 770 CF + 150$ cash or so.

Yeah the 77x are fantastic, I have 3 of em in cf and the 470 as well, just something about them,, and I prefer a smallish knife

and I prefer a smallish knife

Although I don't have any smallish knives, I think I might too. My Benchmade 940 (which I LOVE, btw) feels just a tad on the large side. I'll just have to see if my suspicions are confirmed when I finally get around to picking up a 470.

In other news, If someone is reading this and just itching to pick up a 77x, last I checked there was a CF 770 on that one popular auction site. I seriously thought about making it mine, but the price is a little steep. Not trying to advertise, as I have no idea who the seller is, but just passin' on some info.

I just picked up a 773 BC1 and I love it. For a small knife it is unbelievable. I have big hands and this knife flips like a breeze. I would not have believed how it handled without feeling it. The F&F is immaculate and aluminum handles are my favorite. I don't know why they would have quit making them. Mine has the boron carbide coating and it has a sort of irridescent look, very cool, IMHO.

I traded my 470 for a 42mc. Already miss my Emmissary. :(
If you can't get a hold of a 770 though, I can't recommend the 470 enough. One of my favorites of all time.
