what happened to the Buck talon?

curios what happened to the Buck Talon….was is a market flop?

apparently they are out of stock or discontinued. currently available on the bay for 300 and up, especially the ones with the brush hook. i don't know why this is happening but feel that someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

discontinued. dont know as I haven't seen sales or profitability figures, but im gonna assume it didn't sell well. maybe ate up too much labor and time for the profit levels. things like this usually lead to discontinued.

It's always supply and demand....

The original Talon was an FSO for a specific vendor of first responder gear. Assuming the licensing ran out so Buck either made their own inventory, or used up surplus from the original SFO.
The later model without the limb hook could've been Buck's attempt at offering a nearly identically performing tool at a lower cost to them.
There's so many "zombie apocalypse" blades in the market I suspect it was a challenge for Buck to market and compete.
All one has to do is look at similar offerings and price points on the bug knife retailers to see what they were up against.

Pure speculation on my part, as usual...

Didn't really sell that well for us and was expensive to make. I personally like the Froe better. I have both strapped to my tractor and never pull the Talon out.

I have all types of heavy limp hackers! Tops, Extrema ratio Kershaw ect. I have the TAN and BLACK of the TALON later model. I think this knife is the best chopper or self defense weapon for hiking I've ever had! And you also discountinued the 2 5160 knives that we're also fantastic! BRING THEM BACK! Especially the TALON! I know guy's in TIER 1 outfits that love this blade and have used it in combat to great success!!

Cool blades, I hastily bought two when they were closed out, buying two put me over the needed number for free shipping with the vendor I bought them from, which I think is a perfectly sensible reason for buying two blades instead of one.

Wife: "why did you buy two"
Me: "free shipping!"
Wife: "still, did you need two?"
Me:"what I meant to say was, I got you one too"
