What happened to the Kershaw Whisper?

The Kershaw Whisper was supposed to come out about 1 or 2 yrs ago.I heard there was a fire in the Japanize factory where they were going to be made and the knife was postponed.That was the last I heard of them.Does anyone know if they are going to be made and when?
For those of you who are not familar with this folder,it was designed by Mr.D.Ralph.It was a high end production model with a list price of around $350.Titanium handles and 440v blade.The most impressive feature was the new Vault Lock.There may be a picture if you do a search in the Whats New forum.If this model is'nt comming out will the Vault Lock be used in any other model?
 
The Vault Lock and Whisper were designed by Ken Onion, who has a whole stable of knives produced by Kershaw. Check out the Ken Onion Forum for more info.

PLEASE, I don't think so.

But, as far as the knife goes I've heard they may be shipping by next week.

ha ha i was about to say huh? a kershaw ken onion knife designed by DDR? that would be odd don't you think? and i sure do hope this knife comes out soon
 
Nope Mr Ralph had nothing to do with this knife.It is 100%Onion. I have one of the first prototypes and although Japan took some liberties with the design and made the blade look a little short,narrow and upswept for the handle size I really like using it. It is very well made with a hand finnished 440V blade and a very complex bit of engineering in the solid titanium handle.The vault lock is smooth as silk and realy compliments speed safe.
So befor you judge the photo,roll one arround in your hands and kick the tires a bit befor casting a solid opinion. They will be out soon and are limited to 500 pcs and are already sold.
I know this sounds like a bit of self promotion but is not intended that way. I have just heard to many criticisms from a photo.
 
I happen to think that this is a pretty good looking knife. Here is a picture so that you can judge for yourself.
 
Well damn Ken,
If only 500 were made and they are already presold, who should really give a care? Give us something we all may have.
 
Pre-sold. . . :( . . .to individuals ? Distributors ? Dealers ?
 
I imagine they where presold to dealers, $350 is MSRP right? So streat price will probably be more like $250.

As with any new knife you will proabably see them first on ebay.
 
That just keeps looking better and better,

Dealers mostly so they will be available for a short time anyway. We are in the process of making a less pricy knife with the vault lock hopefully we will be debuting it at shot. Different design though.
