I haven't read anything about the Myrtle on this forum. I asked if anyone had 1 a few months ago, only a few comments.

Did it die a slow painful death after it was released?

Guys that have 1, how do you like yours.

I don't have one, doubt I ever will. I was thinking about the Vrango the other day. No one talks about it either.

I think blade shapes of the Myrtle and Vrango are too unconventional for most people.

Myrtle is a really badass design. I don't own it but handled it at the B&M and both they got sold fast. It is overbuilt but not tankish if that makes sense. It is also about the size of an Endura. It looks a lot like a custom Emerson in the scales Dept. A solid underrated design. When the get disco'ed and sold cheap I will grab one and it will be a cult classic a few years after.

I was interested in the Myrtle. Then I got an email from BHQ saying one of my top "wish list" knives (the Nirvana) was in stock. So I bought it. And ever since , all other knives , including the Myrtle , have taken a back seat.

But I will say that the Myrtle's handle is beautiful. But I found the blade shape iffy.

Honestly, when Spyderco releases designs like these I wonder if they're trying to sell knives or accomplish something else.

Really? They don't even make the top 5 strange Spydercos for me. I'm thinking about the Gunting, Civilian, Khalsa, etc...

I have one and absolutely love it. It is an interesting shape, but the fit and finish is flawless, it fits the hand great, incredibly smooth, etc. I have zero gripes about the Myrtle.

This tread needs pics. Anyone? [emoji3]

Ask and ye shall receive: Here's my Myrtle....I love it.
Lovely weight to it- the hook section at the front of the blade is great for grabbing and cutting parcels without deploying the whole blade around 'knife-shy-folks'
Fit and finish are- as always with the Taichung knives- peerless in the Spyderco range.....and I'd love to see some more of the shred carbon.

Downsides- she's a big old beast in pocket and hand.
The pocket clip looks cool but is very grabby on thicker jeans
The lock bar is quite narrow- I'd imagine if you chose to use this for heavier long-use cutting it'd be a hot spot after a short while on your index finger (but with the build, that'd be like deciding to use your Ferrari to pull a treestump out of a mudhole! :D)

That's a gorgeous knife....

Looks like a pretty useful design. I think Cts-xhp would have bumped the sales up. I could be completely wrong on that, but I prefer the Cts-xhp in my domino over the s30v in my old pm2.

How about a regular wharncliffe for the Myrtle and a non-recurved tanto for the Vrango. Handles on both are beautiful and made in Taichiung means top quality.

I really like it. XHP would be a huge plus, but the real reason outside of $$, is the clip and non standard hole pattern. I'm fine sourcing my own clip, but when they use a new hole pattern (I'm talking about you Rubicon, now sold) I just won't carry it.

They are both collaboration models- the respective designers of each selected their blade shapes specifically for a reason, so a modified version is unlikely.

You're right. I actually think the Vrango is pretty sexy looking. When it goes on sale maybe I'll pick one up.
