I was wondering what happened to it over the years. It seemed practical to make a lower costing class to introduce people to Benchmade, but then it just disappeared (along with the rolling lock and other locking mechanisms). I was just kind of wondering what happened to the class and the lock types.

Some of the Red class, esp. the Vex, were decent knives. Looks like a decision was made at BKC to discontinue them for whatever, probably marketing, reasons. Actually, the Rolling Lock was a great design. Really worked and just got lost in the dust of past catalog offerings. The 2006 issue had a nice selection of Reds including the Vex, Ambush, and the Snipe. I believe the Pika is still around too...re-branded into the HK line.
