What Happened???

I have had my favorite Schlage knife the whole way through boy scouts and now into adulthood...so i go to the store to buy a new one and retire my oldie. To my surprise Schrade went out of business =( I realize this is probably old news but since i'm a noob could someone tell me what happened??? How can a company that makes such a quality product just go out of business????

The short story: Schrade owed a lot of money to banks. The bank(s) called the debt and forced Schrade into bancrupcy. You can search the forum for old posts with more details, conspiracy theories, and the resulting surge in Schrade collecting.

all i can say is it was a tragic lose to americans and the knife industry.
