What happens when a liner or frame lock bar goes over too far?

Do you send it back? What happens then? Does the liner get replaced at no charge? (I know this may differ between companies) Or is just adjusted somehow. I've never had to do this yet. But I might soon. Thanks.

I would imagine (hope) that most makers/manufacturers would fix or replace the liner/lock bar, whichever was the most appropriate given the design of the knife, so long as it didn't look to have been tampered with.

If the lock is still tight where the blade isn't moving it will be ok for a time. But since the lock can go no farther it will never be able to get tighter like it has before by the lock moving farther over.

If you let the pivot pin get too lose you could end up in a situation where the blade tries to do a 360 on you when the lock gets stuck between the body and the blade after slipping off the back of the blade. Needless to say that is not a good sitation.

If this is an older knife that could be considered just a normal wearing depending on who you talk to. If there is no damage to the knife or the lock and it has just worn in and now slides off the blade there are fixes that can be done but once the blade is loose it just really needs to be sent back to be repaired by whoever made it. IMO.

I would not be surprised to have to pay a nominal fee to have it brought back up to snuff if it is an older knife well used and needing some TLC to bring new life back into it. If newer it should be covered.
