I made a questionable choice and gathered up most of my fixed blades for sort of an inventory, and realized I should probably thin the herd. I've kept what I use and some that I just liked over the years, but man, there is no collection theme to these at all, ha.
Made for an interesting picture anyway.

My folders made an even worse collage.

I am a generalist knife collector. I collect modern folders, traditional folders, fixed blades, novelty blades, advertising knives - I like variety, and I carry and/or use a wide variety of knives and types of knives. I think I'm the kind of person that if I had a themed knife collection, I would get bored with it at times. This way, if I tire of one type - say, traditionals, I can focus on modern folders - or fixed blades - or some other variety. Then move on to the next type. I don't expect to ever tire of having a wide variety of knives.

Nice knives you have! I do notice one possible omission: I don't see any small fixed blades, do I? So if you want a theme, I guess you could call it "medium to large fixed blades". I am defining "small" as around 3-inches blade length and under.

I agree with your sentiment on variety.

There are a handful of small fixed in the picture (still sheathed though), and in a tool box somewhere. I never focused too much on them because I always used a folder in that size.

Why would you expect to have a method? That you have a variety is in itself interesting. It looks like you have a wide range of tools and are prepared to select the best one for whatever task may arise.

This is exactly how I rationalize my addiction.
