What has happened to Solingen knives?

There was a time when I used to come across these Solingen knives with the "eye" logo.

I believe these blades were made in Germany.

These days I don't see them around anymore.
These "eye" brand knives have got quite a good reputation for being durable, reliable and efficient.

Their design is quite simple but elegant.
I am just curious as to whether the company that made them still exists.

I would really like to get one myself, but I don't think they make any medium size knives with carbon steel blades. All of the medium size stockmans I've seen have stainless steel. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

You will occasionally find some "Eye Brand" knives in the SMKW brochures. I don't know if they're ever on the website (eknifeworks.com).

A number of internet sites carry Eye Brand, as well as some mail-order places like Knives Plus. If you want several internet sites, just e-mail me and I will look them up for you. Eye brand makes a medium-sized (3.5" closed) and large (4.25" closed) stockman with carbon steel blades and several handle materials. The medium stockman is one of my EDC, I don't leave home without it.

Eye Brand is owned by Clarence Risner of Ohio. Clarence is also the president of the NKCA. They are manufactured by the Freidrich Oblertz Co. in Solingen Germany. Oblertz also makes Indian Head, Buck Creek, Bulldog Brand and Eye brand. Actually, if you put a trapper from each Co. side by side, you will see they are all the same knife.
Oblertz seems to be the Camillus of Europe. They are a major European subcontractor. I hope this helps.

The "eye" logo was used by Carl Schlieper, Solingen, Germany.
But he is out of business for years, so it seems rights on this logo have changed ownership.
