What I did this weekend

Nice lookin fish:D

Looks like that lake was dried up at some point? It looks cool as hell with the cracked bottom surface.

Probably by the end of every summer when the water level drops!

Nice video Mick! I'm doubly impressed as you were filming too!

As a result of the years of below ave. rainfall, this dam is down to about 6% capacity.

About 2 weeks ago there was an inch of rain in the catchment, enough to raise the water level a bit to cover the previously dried out bank.

Kind regards

I was too busy at the start of each fish to film :D

It was only at the end of the fight I was able to film them

I'll be the first to admit it's an interesting exercise to play a fish one handed with a fly rod and film with the other :D

Kind regards
Mick

I bet! We here are in our third year of draught, similar story with the reservoirs... and fires...

Fly fishing for carp sounds like great sport. Whats the biggest you caught?

Gidday Mick
Pretty scary on a 4 wt rod. I have broken one :(
Thanks for sharing ... I'm berley'd up to fish yet again.
Cheers

I was wondering why you were playing them so long.. A ton of fun on 4 wt I'll bet.

Great video Mick!

Very impressive! I've got a 5wt and a river full of carp near my house... but never seem to have any success. What fly pattern were you using?

You are quite a multi-tasker Mick.

For my next comment to make sense, you need to be familiar with the great Australian film "The Castle".

Watching this video initially reminded me of 'Bonny Doon'.

To those who don't already know, our neighbors, the Aussies, make some great movies. I recommend 'The Castle', 'Danny Deckchair', 'A Man's Gotta Do' and 'The Man Who Sued God' (and others).

I didn't weight them but my guess is the biggest weighed around 12 pounds (that's it in the first pic). The knife in the picture is the Fallkniven F2, which measures 21 cm (little over 8 inches) to help provide a scale for the size of the fish (no pun intended :D )

They were fairly easily spooked on Saturday, so instead of the brightly coloured saltwater streamers that I normally use, I was using a olive mudeye pattern.

All classics :thumbup::thumbup:

I must admit to being a fan of Billy Connolly and love his work :D

Thanks fishshooter

I made use of the fact that carp will thrash with their tail when in shallow water. If you can time it right and have them facing inland when you bring them ashore, they will often kick themselves onto dry land :D

Kind regards
Mick
