Froze to death.
Gave my recently rebuilt forge another coat of ITC-100.
Froze to death.
Ground out an L-6 blade I hardened yesterday (with a ten minute soak:D )
Froze to death.
Coated my Even Heat with ITC-100. Has anybody else done this? Seems like anything to boost efficiency is good. This is actually the sort of application ITC-100 was designed for.
Froze to death.

What did y'all get done?

work got cold and wet:barf:
some hand sanding wet
band saw next up and milling to round out the day
goin to have to let us all know how coating the kiln works out for you

I guess I should be glad it wasn't raining here today.
I wish I had timed how long it took the oven to get up to temp before, I'll just have to guess.

I drilled holes for a guard slot.
Then I cut the slot.
Then I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And I filed.
And it doesn't fit  .
So I came upstairs to research milling machines on bladeforums.
I think I'll order a Taig. Now I just have to figure out what "accessories" I need with it in order to do guards.

Filing guards is the most detestable part of knifemaking, in my opinion. I had one guard take 3 hours to fit. :barf: It was a double guard on a full tang.
If I had the funds and the room, I'd order a mill yesterday.

thanks
the fullers were ruffed in then rounded the ends with dremel lots of hand sanding to make them look like that i still think i have more to do to clean them up more
if im right on the size ball mill i would have needed, the cost would have been 250+ so that was a no go
the steel is the new ish cpm154 3/16 thick

Oh, I am ready for spring. But then, technically, it's spring now, and it's still cold.:barf: People tell, me, when summers here and it's real hot that I'll wish for winter, but that's not true, I've never wished for winter during the summer.
Thanks for the encouragement though, I know it'll get here eventually.
On the bright side, the sun is shining!!

I think it should be fall all year long. Let me rephrase, the first part of fall all year long.....

Been doing alot of thinking, then forging, then getting ideas, then forging the new ideas, and then getting more ideas. Not getting a thing done but having fun.
