Well now that it is 2009, may as well look back on 2008...looks like it was a slow year for me with only 7 new knives...

My first knife of 08 was the custom one-off Lightfoot Alien that i ordered in 2007 to commemorate my promotion to VP at work...

after going dry for a few months, i had a nice haul at the CKG show, picking up my second Spyderco Gunting, a James McGowan G10 necker as well as winning a Chris Reeve Inyoni

I also picked up (at the show) a Jeff Hall Naginata from fellow knife knut wyrm

next, i snagged a Busse Shiva Rex,my first custom Busse and my first "Ganzaa" knife.

finally, an early self birthday present, a limited edition Crawford Kasper Fighting Folder, picked up the new york custom knife show by TNK.

so what did you get in 2008?

Twenty Three??!!! Wow.

Well I haven't counted but I think around 10 maybe. I got a bunch of fancy folders and a few fixed blades. All forged this time.

I won't post them all but this one might be up your alley. I love this one by Michael Burch. I also picked up a few beautiful Josh Smith folders, a Cliff Parker, and Don Hansons. My best knife year by far!

Also here is another I'd consider a user.

It's a dagger made by dutch knife maker Erik Markman. Beautiful multibar damascus blade.

Kind regards,

Jos

Excellent thread Robert. Very cool stuff you got there.

DDD's Loerchner: The. Holy. Grail.

Jos: Singlehandledly keeping the European Custom market afloat.

I'll post later. Picked up about three or four.

This straight Hunter by J.D. Barth is my first custom. I picked it up at the Montana Knifemakers Association show in Missoula this summer. My photography skills are obviously lacking, but I was and still am very happy with this knife. :)

This Model 1 by Dan Crotts is my first custom order from a maker. My picture certainly doesn't do this knife justice, as the knife is flawless. It was intended as (and is being used as) an EDC, and Dan made a knife that met my wants and needs perfectly. He even managed to pick out the type of scales that I really wanted despite my inability to articulate just what I was looking for.:o I would like to add that dealing with Dan was a great experience and that he was very patient and accommodating.

Added: I am working on a light box for this year so I can show how nicely done these knives really are.

I was lucky to have a number of excellent pieces pass through my hands. Below are a few I currently have that were ordered direct from the makers:
