What I have - What's it worth?

I have in my possession, two Chris Reeve knives that I purchased new in 1986. One is a Survival MK IV, one is an Aviator. Both knives have three digit numbers on them, both in the 200 - 300 range. Both knives are in minty condition, with some slight scuffing of the Kalguard finish where the knife made contact with the sheath. There is some similar scuffing on the aviator sheath from the tight fitting knife. Both knives are in their original plastic bags (one is torn), and both knives have their original shipping cards. Neither knife has ever been used, and neither has ever been sharpened. I am not really a Reeve collector, although I do have a gold coin Sebenza. I have been toying with the idea of selling the knives, but I have no idea of their value, if any, over any currently produced Reeve knife. Any info would be appreciated.

This is by no means a rule of thumb, but I sold a "Rob Dalton Special" fixed blade #25 recently for $300. It was made in 1991/birth certificate/original box/mint condition. It basically was a Mountaineer I with a modified point. The Small Mountaineer retails today for $185. This was sold to a "die-hard" Reeve collector, so to him, it was worth the extra premium to add to his collection.

Oh man, you are sooooo lucky I caught this post.

These knives really aren't worth anything. Guys will just tease you with fantasy stories about outragous values.

I, on the other hand, will be forthright with you and tell you that they are worth about $20, shipped. Because I am the caring and giving sort, I will offer you $25 (shipped) for both. I might even be convinced to trade you, even up (with you paying shipping both ways) for an authentic Chinese made Ninja folder with a liner lock that has been fully worn in to the opposite side. It only closes when locked about 65-75% of the time but I'm sure the factory will adjust it under warranty. Their address in not immediately available to me, but just sent it to China with a short note and everything will be fine.

I also have a Pakistan made folding survival combat hunting fighting tactical folder, but you would have to add cash for that trade. ;)

Seriously, very knice pieces.

Barry, sorry man, but after Nimrod's kind offer, I would be a sucker not to take him up on it. Nim, I am just formulating a plan where we might meet so that I can examine those knives. They actually sound too good to be true. I'll get back to you shortly.....very shortly......very, very shortly..........................

Pigsticker,

Sorry, I don't have any knives that nice, but If we are talking trades
I have got a nice pointy stick and an old chainsaw chain. And I would even pay shipping.

Barry
