What I learned from OP2W

I found Busse about a year and a half ago, and shortly after that OP2W started.

So far I have grabbed a handful of blades and some coated ones. After having both, I have realized I am a satin man. Just something about satin that just does it for me. Yea I may scratch it using it, but it's just what draws me.

So bossman, bring us some new satin for OP2W please!!!

I came to same conclusion a whike back lol made it my goal to get every Satin blade that comes out lol We"ll see how that goes. Offcourse there are exemptions like TGLB, or Battle Shark and few others that are not available in Satin

Agreed. I grabbed a MOFO an AK and have a shark and huck fin, but everything else is satin.

Agree with your thoughts. I have only ordered three battle grade coated O2W's knives simply because I wanted to see how they turned out and because I really liked that model, but have avoided most coated offerings for the most part because it doesn't move me. I like satin, double cut or comp finishes and am willing to pay more for them, as with the SOS's, MSE's, or Urban Fudge's. I really wish those finishes would be more the standard and charge accordingly. That is why I am disappointed I did not discover Busse sooner, when it seemed like double cut and satin was more the norm.

yeah i have been around for about 7 mounths now and i love Satin i backed out of all my BG orders and went on the waiting lists for satin blades

On Larger Blades (10 inches length) the coating does not bother me, as these are going to be Choppers! Anything under 10 inches must be satin or Competition finish. I would rather have the Chopper's in satin also but after a couple of outing's they (the coating) seem to smooth out and chop about as well as the Satin

This exactly. I'm done with coated blades unless they are large choppers, and even then I would much prefer them to be uncoated.

Personally, I get a great sense of satisfaction from turning a coated blade into a satin one. Just my .02¢

I have not stripped a blade yet but i want to try. I would think being the first one to see it naked and make it shine would be a bonding experience. I need to research more how to preserve the logo, however. Get a coated blade cheaper and get intimate with it.

Word. I'm all about satin these days. I also really liked the old competition finish.

More nekkid blades please!

After nearly 10 years of collecting Busse's I pretty much only buy satin blades if possible. Alternatively I purchase coated and have them professionally stripped.

I think that a high percentage of long time collectors feel this way.

If I was going for Safe Queens, I would feel the same way

Strippers all the way. I know most don't agree, but while I do think satin is pretty, it's also pointless. If it's gonna get beat up and a patina anyway, why not save some money and do it yourself.

I prefer satin but if I really like the style of a model I don't mind a stripper at all

Gotta love the satin. A satin CS AMS is my at home steak knife. However with big blades I failed. When I started, years ago, it was with coated infi; because of the cost, and made a promise to myself that I would use every blade and beat the hell out of it. When I knocked off the coating, I would strip it, and have a new blade. Like a two for one. However, in all these years, less then some here, but a lot to me, I've never had the time to beat a coating off a blade because, damn it, I always get a new one beat on. So the cycle goes.
