Was working out in Waverly Virginia today, and came upon their one and only hardware store to pick up some screws. First off, I love old, family owned hardware stores. I love the feel and smell of them and they'll have stuff you just won't find at any big box home improvement store. So there on the counter was one of those old knife display cases, which in this case (pun only somewhat intended) was displaying Case knives. I found this beauty here:

So obviously I had to buy it, paid $47 for it, which seemed like an okay price. The guy behind the counter said that the Copperhead CV had been discontinued. Not being very familiar with Case knife history and all, I'm wondering if this should be a user, or a keeper, bearing in mind that I usually buy users..:D

Thanks y'all!

Nice score.

My local hardware store is not a small family owned establishment, but they carry Case knives. I picked up my yeller CV Pen and a nice amber bone CV stockman from them. I have to show some kind of restraint or I'll be in there every other day buying more knives, LOL.

nice find! you gotta love family owned hardware stores, i have one in my area that sells case too, its were i got my first case knife (olive sowbelly) i need to go back there sometime and pic up a cv peanut.

as for your knife, i would use it. get a nice patina on those blades and it will be looking mighty classy.

Nice score. If it were mine, I'd use it. Almost seems like you're preventing the knife from fulfilling it's destiny by not using it. lol

Good buy. If it were mine I would sure use it. My mini copperhead is far and away my most used knife.

Thats a fine looking knife.

I check out old hardware stores . I found one near an Amish community that carried Old Hickory knives. I bought the skinner and a cleaver.

Hardware stores can be a great place to find knives. The big Copperhead is a terrific pattern. Yes, they have been discontinued (vaulted) but I'm sure they will eventually be brought back...

Use it and enjoy it

Yep...gotta love hardware stores.

I just walked in the door from visiting one the local "True Value" stores and I picked up a Schrade Old Timer 330T jack. They also had Uncle Henry, Buck and a few Case models as well. They had a black Case Sodbuster that I may have to go get here pretty soon. I'm pretty sure I don't have one of them yet. :D
