While in Idaho visiting family , I had a chance to visit Chris Reeves knives manufacture. The staff are very kind and their production line is top quality. Unfortunately most of their products will be back ordered for 3 months.
Went to Sportsman's Warehouse and they have the largest knife selection I've seen live ; spyderco, benchmade, CRT, Buck, SOG, etc.
At this facility I got a chance to 'fondle' the Piranha mini-gaurd, and I loved the feel of the handle. Feels like wood and it's so lite.

For a highly popular knifemaker like CR, I personally dont think 3 months is too bad. Not that Im on the market for a CR knife. Ive sold mine and dont expect to buy any more in the foreseeable future.

As for ones perception of the wait for a knife, it of course depends on ones POV. Rob Scheppmann just finished a knife for me and the wait was considerably longer.

Rob is so nice to deal with and the finished product of such high quality, that I would gladly have waited twice that long.
