The 501 with the maroon micarta handle! It was the Esquire back when I bought my first Buck 501. I would love to see it re-introduced with the three pin frame and maroon micarta, just like it was back in the 70's! Maybe with the original type blade steel as well. I broke out my old worn out one recently, and it's been a real pleasure to tote and use. If I could buy a new just like it, I would be all over it!Anyone else think like I do? The new squire model is great, But the old one was definately a cut above! (Just wishing out loud:D )

As the China plant gets up to speed on quality control and they produce more and more Buck Quality knives.....there may be A LOT of knives re-introduced.

Many, I suppose that required too much hand work to be done in America.

I agree that will be nice as long as the quality is maintained at the old standards and the steel is the same.

Well, as much as I would like to see it brought back, I don't think I could go for it being made in the land of "Put me out of a job, Please" ! I would be willing to pay the price of an Idaho made one. No offense meant, But I have not seen a knife made there that I would want to carry. I guess the ones I have will last me the rest of my life.It would just be nice to see the old style craftsmanship and materials brought back. I'd buy one , and I'm sure there would be many people here that would too.(Now for the economics lessons posts!) :)

I'd be willing to pay more for a USA knife than one made in Communist China. Wish I could say I'm sorry, but I ain't too PC.

An updated 110, with a lanyard hole and a thumb stud / hole. Made in USA of course.

There are a lot of them still around but the Buck Odyssey. I think it's one of Bucks most under-appreciated great knives. Update it slightly with G10 scales and torx fasteners instead of rivets and you have a real winner.

I just hate to see jobs and money going overseas, especially after the demise of Schrade and Camillus in the past few years. Judging by the cost of Case knives around here, I believe that many people would pay a premium to have knives made in America. Heck, I don't mind paying a bit more for the 303 (which I often give as a gift), which is about as plain Jane as you get, even though I could get a fancier red bone handle version from China. Just my opinion.

I believe the Chinese Bucks are made in the other China... ;)

The "other" China is Taiwan. Taiwan claims independence from mainland China and China claims Taiwan (Formosa) is a renegade state.
Knives from Formosa would be stamped "Taiwan".

If they are made in Hong Kong, that is still communist China...though it is officially called a Special Administrative Region by Beijing, it's still "China".

It would be interesting to me to know what cities the China plant(s) are located in. And, are the exclusive to Buck or doing other brands as well (most likely given the volume that they can produce). Just curious.

I found it coinkydinky that the red slip joints are from Red China...

Ok, I would like to see the 184 come back.

What about some kitchen knives for a start.
It sickens me that most kitchen knives are CHEAP imports.

Also, what about that game 'n skinning knife which looks no different from a kitchen blade. Only that this time around, it ought to come with a natural tan leather injun-style sheath along with a bone/stag handle fit for a blackpowder rendezvous.

The kitchen set, Empress Trio? Nice call Girlymann! :D
I also echo the sentiments of Messersmith, why don't we still make the Odyssey?

If we ever brought back the Buckmaster, I would want to be on the designing committee. Certain things have to be left alone to make it the 184 and certain things have to be changed to make it more practical. In my most humble opinion.

Aw shucks... how about a gentle "noogy"? :)

Guess I'd like to see the 184 recalled too.
(on edit: I didn't express that too well, I'd like to see the 184 make a comeback.) :)

The new BuckMaster 184 (version 0.2) ought to be made with an integral one-piece hollow handle blade - just like a Chris Reeve Survival Knife. I suppose that would be EXPENSIVE to manufacture states side but that's how most folks would want it?
