What If The Blade Is Off Center?

I have a lone wolf folder and the blade is off center about a mm.
I was wondering if this was a big deal in short/long run?
As I am debating on returning it.

You should send it to me for inspection.;) I have yet to figure out why this bothers people, but if you don't like it, send it back.;)

ive replaced nylon washers with brass ones, that helps,if they are brass already, it might need a second one opposite the liner side of the blade...

by 1mm, its not worth worring about, now 8-10mm maybe. Let it break in then check the blade center.

To me, it`s only a problem if the blade rubs the liner when you open and close it.

My thoughts exactly ! Long as ya get a good lockup in the open position , an no rubbing on the liners , who cares !

How thick are the knives you carry!?

I think I can safely say that if any of my blades were off center by 10mm, the blade would be sticking out the side of the handle ;)

Thank you all.
Thats all I need to know
Know i can sleep well:D
It was a T2 ranger in case anyone was wondering.

bebop,

If you shift your grip 1mm in the same direction as the blade offset, you may never notice that it really is off-center... ;-)

Seriously though - use the T2 ranger and enjoy! They're solid knives and the 1mm won't matter...

Mike

Send it in if it really bothers you. I agree with the previous posts, you needn't worry about LoneWolf's customer service. I have only had good experiences with them.

It's really a personal decision. Does it bother you enough as a issue of fit and finish to send it in?

In terms of function, it means nothing. The blade still opens and cuts. Tens of thousands of knives have off center blades because of the tolerance stack on getting the tang flat, the liners parallel, and any washers perfectly flat and burr free. The maker could be well within production tolerances - but the blade, over a three to four inch radius, will exaggerate the effect of thousandths of a inch and be out of alignment.

If it's going to be a user, it may well loosen or wear out of alignment anyway. The older slipjoints were actually "crinked" to allow multiple blades to fit beside each other. If it's a safe queen or show knife that will never be really used, just carried, oh well.

Lots of posters here will point out that this is a significant indicator of lack of quality - but it's really just a common indicator that making thousands of knives by hand doesn't mean each one will be dead perfect - unless you spend hundreds more.

Well said.

Good grief. And I thought I was picky. One millimeter at the blade tip is NOT even worth mentioning. Your car's tires' alignment are off way, waaaay more, in the big scheme of things, than that.
