was a Wegner? I have both, a Tinker I picked up a few months back, a little keychain Vic and a big Wegner (models unknown) that belonged to my Granfather. I much prefer the fit and finish on the Vics. But I found a listing for a Wegner that has what I've been looking for. It's a Tinker with a nail file instead of the small blade (they call it the Highlander). So I guess my question is Would you sacrifice a little fit and finish to get your ideal small SAK? I found the big SAK I want (the Locksmith) but the Tinker doesn't quite match what I need in a small SAK. What would you do?

If it were me, I'd get it. At worst, you'll have another knife, but at Best, you'll be as happy as a pig in mud. :D

I'd buy a Wenger.

Although they are generally not quite as nice as Victorinox, Wenger is still no slouch in terms of quality or usefulness. If you can find one with the implements that you desire I'd say go for it.

I have far more vics than I do wenger, but right now I'm carrying a wenger for similar reasons. I like the combination of a Vic climber, but I have a smaller version with a nail file in a Wenger Traveler. And I prefer the wenger scissors for cutting things other than paper. The fit and finish isn't bad, and some folks prefer the thinner main blade for cutting. I think it's ok to mix a few wengers in with the vics for EDC.:)

It's your perfect knife and you can get it for ~$20? Go for it! The quality diff between Wenger and Vic isn't that big. I have a Serrated Adirondack and it's very nice. I just miss the small screwdriver on the end of the can opener.
