What if you could only have one?

Wanted to poll the group - I know AK's are for chopping vegetation, Kobra's are for chopping intruders, and that there is a khuk for every task in between - but what is your favourite style/size, and what do you use it for?

My (first) khuk shipped Monday, and has not arrived - getting a little stir crazy - but really looking forward to it (18", 33 oz, WWII).

I like the berk dui chirra with all the tools, dunno why it just appeals to me the most if I had to pick one , it or the YCS

My dream knife was the Ang Khola, it is a unique knife, and deffinately uncomparable. but I´ve found, that once you get acustomed to the weight of the M43, that might be the one.

good luck.

I just received a Service 1, love it and have a WWII model on the way. I'm new to the khukri's and the one I'm really interested in is a 14.5" blade "Havildar" model. It's large, light (700- 800 grams) and IMHO just plain looks like a badass... Does anyone have experience with these, I'm hoping that will be as cool it looks?

Welcome to the forum, Dave!

I think if I could only have 1, it would be an 18" AK. Most of what I use my khuks for involves chopping.

You must be thinking of another company.
Himalayan Imports does not have a "Service No.1 or a Havildar model.

but this is definitely the place you want to be for much better khukuri than you are getting from whomever else :D

Thats like answering which grandkid you like the best:eek: Well ... im starting to like my AK bowie a lot! but I use my 25" Siru almost daily so we got more hours together than anything...I want to say KLVUK just for the simplicity of a great all around knife! And for just "feel good fun" my 21' Single Fuller Chitlangi. But my Christmas Kag is in my edc pile now with my other Kags and my new almost dressed KLFVKK:thumbup:...And of course for monster knives...20"AK and a Giant Chitlangi Bowie from Thirtha (Way khul)...and I cant forget the Kumar Karda in the kitchen..and...I dont think im getting anywhere with your question Mcat:rolleyes: The answer probably would be a medium size chopper. M43,BAS,Salyan,CAK but i dont have any:mad: I need more Kookerie:D
Ok... forced answer:grumpy: Since chainsaw and axe do most of the chopping i must say my environment dictates I chose 25" Sirupati. She gets more work done around here than anyone and thats why I buy these blades (mostly). OK now no more hard questions:thumbup:
PS. Welcome to the community JaxDave:cool:

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, they were ordered somewhere else, prior to finding this forum and doing more research. Now that I know more about them (feel, balance, edge, etc) I can start narrowing down the ones I really want. I have two boys that will happily take the lesser quality khukri's off my hands...

If I could only have one khukuri it would be the Himalayan Imports M43 above all other HI models and even any and all other khukuri manaufacturer's models as well. Most beautiful and best balance between weapon and utility IMHO.

I'm on board with the Foxy. It's very close to my Trisuli Ghaule (I'm sure I got the spelling goofed up). Both just feel sweet in hand.
My Foxy is just a tad long, but I love it a lot. Few inches shorter and it would be perfect.

If i could only have one, it would be a toss up between my 12" bonecutter, or my KLVUK. both are beefy enuf to do most tasks short of tree felling, yet agile enuf to do fine tasks.

My Tin Chirra by Tirtha, 18" and 32 oz. It stays on my gear bag and has really come in handy around the property. And after a small tornado came thru is was essential for clean up!

M43 or 15" AK... Ummmmm....... Errrrr....... Golly can't decide. I guess I'll just have to keep em' both.

If I could only have one blade I would be a very sad man

Lol. Good that I read all the responses before posting, otherwise it would have looked like I copied what you said.
So yes what marenoa said.

If I really have to chose only one Kukri I would keep in mind that I still have axes and other knifes at my disposal. The Kukris which could not be replaced by other tools are the long, thin and fast fighting blades. Therefore I would pick one of them.

Yes, but which one??
