If you could keep only one custom knife and had to sell the rest of your collection, which one would you choose to keep?

This isn't an easy question to answer but, seriously pretend that you have to dump all but one of the custom knives you own, which one is your favorite and why?

Please put a picture up of your choice if at all possible.

Here is mine. The first custom knife I ever purchased to start my collection. I got it from Jay and Karen at Arizona Custom Knives about 4-5 years ago.

I was very new to this idea of custom knife buying and I always wanted a Bowie knife to replace the production Bowie I had when I was 10.

I had never even come close to spending this much on a knife before and I was actually pretty nervous about committing to this "big" purchase.

As I was opening the box from Arizona, my heart was pounding pretty hard.
When the box finally got opened this was one of the most beautiful knives I had ever seen, and at that time was the first custom Bowie I had ever seen.

Edited to add:
This is a Bob Lay 10" Bowie. I had it engraved by Bruce Shaw and it won Best Bowie/Fighter at BladeShow West after I bought it which was an awesome feeling.

Tough decision. I would probably have to go with my Carson large model 4.

It's Friday. . .and that's too hard of a question to try to answer. :p

Can I please keep 2. . . .or maybe. . . .3 ? :(

Please ? :grumpy: ;)

As many other customs that I have and love, this is pretty easy, it would have to be the De Villiers Mini Operator that I got from Gadi Blilous right before he died. Basically for sentimental reasons, although it is a nice little knife.

I bought this fine piece, advertised as "The Rarest Balisong in the World", from our (in)famous friend Jaxurman several years ago. It was always a super piece to me, as a balisong collector of sorts, being a one-of piece that had a blade signed by Jody Samson and anodized titanium handles with hex-head pivot pins..........unheard of in the day because the ti handle option was $1000, the ano was another $200, and no one had ever seen hex screws used on a bali, latchless at that!!!

Just very recently I got the news that Mr. Samson had seen a picture of this knife and declared it to have one of the top five finest Wee Hawk blades that he ever ground............coming from the guy that made the first 'Wee Hawk' named knife (designed by Gary Garrow though the name/profile has pretty much been synonymous with Jody Samson for going on 30 years) that's saying a lot, IMHO. He's ground so many butterfly knife blades that he detests balisongs of any kind and would not grind the blade for another ever, or so he's said.

I thought this was great news to hear but then I happened to talk with Vance Collver (of Benchmade fame) a few weeks later, he too, related a story about this knfe that I really got a kick out of..........

He told me that he originally saw this knife at a show in Eugene, OR., around 1994. I'm sure he was working at Benchmade at the time and had a great interest in balisongs himself. He told me after he left the show, the knife had made such an impression on him that when he got the chance to develop the 1st Generation Benchmade Model 42 balisong years later, it would have blue anodized ti handles, hex pivots, and the Wee Hawk blade. They certainly did and the rest is knife/Benchmade history. :)

The balisong has made a dramatic comeback in the last few years, both production-wise and custom-wise, and since I'm a little biased on the subject, I feel this ol' boy here might have had quite a bit to do with it..............if not, still a mighty fine pedigree! ;)

Right now the one knife I would keep would be my Cactus Rose frontier bowie. That knife has charisma. Once I get my Newton bowie my choice might change, we will see.

Easy for me. It would be my small Carson M4. I cann't even send it to Kit for a touchup because I carry and use it every day. :)

Keep just ONE?! This is the stuff of nightmares! Tough choice to make - only slightly easier because it's hypothetical. I'll hang onto this one by Bailey Bradshaw:

That is way too tough for me to call. Most of my knives have been made by good friends. So they go far beyond objects that I have an interest in selling.

Who knows what the future will bring. I just hope I will never have to get rid of them, leaving that decision to someone else when the time comes. I want to pass some to my relatives, some to friends that out live me and others (especially some M.S. Test knives) to relatives of the friends that made them.

That is a tough question but for me it would have tobe my medium M4 with a D2 blade.I'm really stuck on it. :D

Joss! That Hudson is Awesome, what is the handle?

Nearly everythin Robb makes is handled with fine walnut. This is one of the finest bowie I've ever seen, and the most comfortable to boot.

This is a question that occured to me just the other day. I wished to ask it myself! Thanks.

No one would want to 'can' great favorites because there truly are emotions wrapped up in our cutlery. But that said, I would stick with this one, by the mainstay of my collection: artist Hill Pearce.

It's also the first knife of his I purchased. It's so very simple, yet stunning in design. Now having had many a conversation with him, it makes it all the more special to me.

would have to be my Russ Milligan since it is a folder and I could pack it along anywhere.
