Hey guys and gals,
What if you were thinking about buying your 1st Emerson Custom.
Would you buy a CQC 5,6 or 7??? All are 2001 models. All
are priced about the same. Which would be the more desirable or are they all about the same. I doubt if I would carry it, more of an
investment. I think I lurk here to much, listening (reading)to you guys, got me wanting a Custom. Also, I won't wear a cowsuit, wife thinks I'm weird enough already.:o
Thank you for your input,
Chip

For your first custom I would go for the CQC6 - this is the Classic Emerson.

BTW we only use the cow stories to scare people who want to become a member of the Usual Suspects. The goat is the real test. :D

Regards and welcome,

Ed

It sounds like you know of a person, place or thing that is selling a 5 a 6 and 7.
Part of being a suspect is letting us in on this kind of stuff.

Thanks Ed, that was the one I was leaning towards.

Malazo, I'm not a suspect yet, so I'll tell you where they
are after I buy mine:p! Besides, thought you guys got heck
for doing stuff like that???

Chip,

Thanks for the feedback. You are also right that we have been asked not to post "For Sale" infomation in this forum. You can however still e-mail the information to selected people....

Regards,

Ed

Chip,

The selected people are the Usual Suspects. You can collect all of our e-mail addresses or look for a link to the Usual Suspect Network as posted by Eric Blair.

Buy the CQC6 and pass the tests and you could become a member.

Regards,

Ed

While the 6 is cetainly the 'Classic Emerson', the 5 is, traditionally, a rarer knife, so if investment is what you are looking for, I would go with the 5. Right now there is a relatively large supply of customs on the market, so the prices are pretty even.

Um...I was under the impression that it was the cross posting to the for sale forums that was the problem.

If someone found a source that was selling customs, not on BF, and posted a question about it, or a link to it, that shouldn't be a problem, IMO.

You ane not selling anything, you are not taking away traffic from the sale forums, there is no cross posting.

And to answer about the customs, If you were just going for investment value, I believe it is in the order of 5, 7, then 6.
But the most important thing is buy what you like. Investments are ok, but the true value is in owning something you want and take pleasure in having. Money should be secondary.

let us know what you decide and have fun.

Like the veteran Suspects have said - a 6 is probably the best first choice (mine was), but in addition to choosing what catches your fancy personally, I'd plan on carrying and using my custom. Yeah, they are pretty purpose-specific, some more than others, but Ernie has crafted these blades to be used. Despite the present buyer's market, you'll be paying good $$$$, and maybe even $$$ (Nordic) for your blade, so get your money's worth out of it. Ernie and Co. will make it as good as new for a nominal fee.

Hey guys,
I ordered the 6 earlier, haven't heard nothing yet.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! Thanks for your help!!

Ed, I was to the Usual Suspects Network, pretty cool!! Thanks
for the link.

Chip, what do you mean ordered it? You don't mean direct from Emerson, do you? Just in case you're not aware, they stopped taking custom orders.

Hey Suspects,
Just wanted you to know I got my 2001 CQC6 today, cool knife.
Now I know what you guys mean by crushed box!!!!!

Chip: That's a great score! Enjoy your new aquisition...now you need to find a goat!

Ed: I'm still picking tufts of goat hair and dried blood from my 2000 Commander. I didn't realize goats kick so hard. ;)

Chip,

Great news on the knife, but how come you only bought the one custom? :D

The CQC6 is a great knife - are you planning to carry it?

Regards,

Ed

Ed, I'm not planning on carrying it, yet.;) I have small
hands and I bet the 5 would fit my hand perfect!!!! LOL
I wish I could of got both. Now I know which one would be next.
Hey Santa, did you hear that???

Raye, I don't know where there are any goats, but there are
a bunch of cows nearby!!!
