So, this just came in the mail. My new KaBar Crewman BK-10. I heard a rattle and promptly took the handles off because they are going in the trash to make room for the more current good Grivory, or Micarta and I see a bell inside. Some rust as well, but a bell? Any thoughts on this? It was new in the box. I know I paid a premium for it off of that popular auction site, but did this happen to anyone else?

Thanks,
Tom

The LE BK10 came with all the bells and whistles!!

Check your sheath pouch for the whistle.

Yep, you should have gotten a whistle in sheath too:)

Tom - the BK 10 fits REALLY well in a spec ops combat master short.

Keep that grivory, or gift it up to Murph or someone. There are a lot of beckerheads that prefer the older grivory to the newer grivory.

I talked a buddy into buying one not from a bidder sight but from KABAR. He told me the knife must be defective cause ther was this rattle in the handle, he was generally pissed off about it. I was rolling with laughter!!! In short I had to enlighten him on the whole Beckerhead "all the bells and whistles" deal. He felt like an ass but thought the whole idea was great. Just a side note his had some rust on it too. He really loves the knife. I have talked him into buy an 11 a 2 and the 10 in a weeks time, future Beckerhead for sure!

Did you get the micarta scales that were supposed to come with it too?
Yes, I did get those.

Well, I retrieve them out of the trash and put them back on and put the knife in my display case along with the origninal BK10 from Camillus. Gonna use the Micarta on my BK710 I made and that I got to fit in an Al Welke sheath. No sense in beating the crap out of a limited edition, when I have a perfectly good alternative.

Can we see your 710 next to the new 10?

Thanks
Al

Notice the height of the grind on the Camillus compared to the KaBar. Mine is closer to the Camillus.

My swedge, or false edge more closely compares to the Camillus. I prefer the shorter swedge.

This shot really shows the difference in the swedge grind. I really like the beefy grind on the Camillus over the KaBar. I tried to stay close to the Camillus. Basically, I have to admit, I'm disappointed in the KaBar. Wish they stuck to the Camillus specs.

Okay Al, here ya go. I added the original Camillus version to the mix so everyone can see the difference.

And here is where the Micarta wound up.
