Stopped by my knife seller this evening to pick up a couple of last minute gifts. My guy hands me this "new" 350. H tells me it has a new steel. The serial Number is 0094. The steel isn't IDed on the blade.

Any idea what I have here?

Solid ZDP-189 with Black Tungsten DLC coating. Production was kind of low 500-800 if I remember right.

Other than it's kind of rare and has a low SN? None at all. I'd carry it if it were mine.

The black one. I'd carry and use it too, but I find the 0350's handle a little too short. Mine is #0300.

How does it sharpen? Do I use my stones I use for my Japaneese Kitchen knives, or can I use my sharpmaker?

ZDP is one of the harder steels to sharpen, IMO. as long as you don't let it get completely dull, it isn't that bad, so I try to keep mine touched up on the fine sharpmaker stones. the payoff is that the edge retention is great!

Mine is #0240

It is almost identical externally to a standard 0350, so I'm probably going to mod my standard one with a high SN.
