I want to try it on my leather strop instead of paste. Will I need to clean the paste off of the strop? If so, what is the best way?

I use a balsa block. If I want to change the medium I just use a bench sander until the wood is clean. Dealing in microns I dont think you can clean a strop completely. But maybe others can chime in.

Yes, you have to clean the strop. Maybe heat it with a hairdryer, then some paper towel with a little oil should work. But I am not sure if you are able to get it as clean as it was before you loaded it with the paste. Rather not.
Diamond Spray, well maybe you should go with DMT https://www.dmtsharp.com/sharpeners/specialty/dia-paste-1/
or here https://www.dictum.com/en/polishing-material-ehb/dmt-dia-spray-705437
0,5 Micron.
Or Hand America Diamond Spray (Best Sharpening Stones), available in 0,25 / 0,5 / 1 Micron

Just 1um, I like the PKH brand best. Cuts aggressive. DMT stuff is mediocre.

I will not reload a strop with a finer grit. Good leather can be had economically enough to have a dedicated strop for each grit.

I get my CBN and diamond sprays from Ken Schwartz.

Emulsions made the leather Rock hard, I like the spray better so I can get the leather to deform when I need to power strop.

Shawn, where to you land with emulsions? Do you find they perform more like pastes than sprays? Am I just...uh hum...splitting hairs here?
